You are probably right. But i reckon you understood my question hence quite a douchebag move on your part.

I guess it never occured to you that one watch collection was just a phrasing; i could just as well has said "one watch for everything" or the more common abbreviation "GADA - go anywhere, do anything" watch. In stead i just went with the term 'one watch collecting', which you clearly saw as a great error. I reckon i keep my watch talk with watchuseek, seems like a better crowd.

    LOL,

Is this some kind of joke? If not, for someone who dishes it out to others you have very thin skin.

You can't have a collection of one, that was all I was saying. If I wanted to insult you, believe you me, it would not be in a oblique manner.

One watch for me. 15300. Ticks all my boxes.

Would add a Zeitwerk repeating if not for funding concerns.

Would also add a bunch of other nick-nacks too.

But in reality I have been a one watch guy for about 2 years now I think. It satifies my needs and always makes me smile.

Timex Weekender is all you need.
    But you need 3 straps.
One NATO, One black Leather. One brown leather.
    One watch for every occasion.

Take it off in bed. If you dare.

Why get a Timex when you can pay 20 times over for the same look?

I want an IWC watch but can't afford it with an accountant's salary. I'll leave it to MonkeyfaceMonkeyface to figure out what my salary is since loves investigating. Did you ever get Matthew Fan's salary? Anyways, I was happy with my Tag Heuer Links watch until I joined SF and saw a whole new world. FML

Foo's salary is easy to guess. He's on LinkedIn. I don't remember, but I think he was an associate at a third-rate investment bank. Small no-name shop. So probably around $125k-150k, which makes one decidedly lower-middle class in NYC.

Ouch! $150k in NYC??????? That's like starting salary for CPAs.
$150k in base salary? In which case, there is the year end bonus that could be anyone's guess. But I doubt that's the case.
    He's a VP...titles are so meaningless.

That's very nice. My father in-law is filthy rich but I nor my wife ask him for a penny. I guess it is different when it is your spouse. Well, at least he's not stealing from poor start-up vendors in ad money.

VP is one step up from associate. Titles don't mean anything.

You go from an associate to a VP??? WTF?
Where's associate director, director, associate VP, then VP?

Director is after VP. A VP is in charge of 2 maybe 3 people.

Just two or three??? What the heck?
I am a freaking director and am in charge of 7 people...then again, they're just accountants.
A VP in my world would be in charge of a whole group that has many departments. So they would be in charge of countless people...directly or indirectly.

USA and titles. Like VP crack me up. There's no such thing here. Same as Professor. In USA anyone above a part time cleaner at a university is called professor. I LOL.

Banks are pretty small. Ratio of front office to support staff is about 1/5 to 1/10, depending on the sector. So by definition there aren't that many people to be in charge of.

Anyways, Foo works at a 10 person shop so he's probably no one's manager. It's nothing to be ashamed of, but it's also not a reason to pretend you're wildly successful.

Coke. Look at THE TEAM at that place. The only person listed lower on the team list than Foo is the receptionist.

How "Foo"lish of me to have missed that.
I think MonkeyfaceMonkeyface is the only legit IB here.

Don't get me started on idiots here putting dumbest designations after their name or in their email signatures. The most baffling was John Doe, BS. I was like wtf is a BS? So I asked him and he said Bachelors in Science. I was speechless. People put MS and dumb designations after their names. Titles, my last supervisor is a VP but he has like...3 people under him. I just shake my head and laugh.

Thought Foo was a lawyer not a banker?

Anyway he can afford to spend his vacations roaming around Italian tailors and order ten pairs of Ambrosio pants at a grand each and then not get them delivered so he's definitely in the 1%!

It was funny when he dropped into the SF watch thread with his usual snooty know-it-all attitude and got his ass handed to him by some of the REAL watch aficionados- haven't seen him in there in a while. Wonder what he's up to now?

I thought he was struggling to pass his finals? At the same time there was a load of nasty anti-semitic stuff about his girlfriend on the university student webpages. I cut him a lot of slack after that, as it really was torrid ungentlemanly and unlady like behaviour.

Wasn't aware of any of that. Mind I don't see the connection between a man's wife getting shit on the internet and him acting like an overly superior knobend.

    I miss 'foo.

I used to enjoy reading his convoluted reasoning for his purchases. I was never quite sure whether he was trying to persuade himself, or the reader.

I always found him pleasant in our interactions. We need characters, more so clothing forums.

He would come on the forum ostensibly soliciting advice about an impending purchase then one by one shoot down all the contrary advice offered like he had already made his mind up and the whole thing was just a facade to let us know how rich and tasteful he was in making the purchase.

He did have a bad habit of playing games like that, true, essentially wasting peoples time. But I'm not sure he was doing it to boast, I think it was more a case of an attempt to create a discussion, albeit a rather clumsy one.

Those are classic psychopath traits: draw people in on the pretence that you value their opinion, only to abuse and shoot them down, to show how superior you are. Of course, there are degrees to this behaviour. But the reality is if you want advice, you'll ask for it and generally take it, you won't set-up a scenario just to prove that your choices are so much better than everyone else's. If he was playing games like that he was/and is a borderline psychotic troll.
