The Next Election, Political News, and Other Forms of Comedy (US, UK, & Intl)

What I find interesting is how some of the press has framed it as her being a victim of sexual abuse. She isn't a victim at the moment, she's an accuser.

A very important distinction.

The stitiuation in the US is looking more a more like that Arthur Miller play. I hope that none of their paranoid bullshit come over here to the UK, but that horse has probably bolted, similar to their identity politics bullshit.

Back in the day, when MSM journalists and the editorial policies of the corporate news had some depth and credibility, they would not have tolerated such a staged and phoney tactic. It's a sad indictment of the situation in the USA that the Democrats decided they could stoop so cynically low and get away with it.

Kavanaugh is the enemy on several fronts: white, upper middle class, middle aged, intelligent, well educated, a professional, successful, with a track record of career success, respected by those who have worked for him and therefore he must be reduced in what was supposedly a job interview to defending that he was not unfit for active duty despite having drank beer as a teenager in the 1980's and he wasn't Ted Bundy's best buddy.

The sensible side of the Democrats need to get a grip and rid themselves of the toxic elements and pretty quick, because it's going to hit them in ballot box big time.

This is pretty much it. He is a man-baby of no particular judicial renown. I could care less if they get a conservative justice, this guy is just a train wreck, assault allegations aside.

I wouldn't hire someone that emotionally underdeveloped to be a ditch digger for me, much less want them on the Supreme Court.

You can't use ''man-baby'' with any credibility of a man of Kavanaugh's stature unless he's getting off in the adult baby scene. I'm sure the FBI will be able to confirm this next week.

I don't know anything about Mr Kavanaugh's background or suitability for the job, but as another poster has already pointed out the whole thing is a spectacle, and not becoming of a great nation.

The same thing is true of the fiasco surrounding Brexit over here.

His background is as a professional at the top of his game. Only in the current America and Hollywood (check out the Hollyweird Twitter rants) could an attempt be made to dumb all of that down and bring it to the level of white privilege and sexual deviancy. The Democrats don't give a rat ass - they know they're using the weak and feeble, the gullible celebrities, they know it's all BS lies and they also don't care that the world outside of America is watching dumbfounded - it's about getting (ultimate) power by any means necessary. Due process, the American way? They're part of the Globalista elite, they've already superseded America, rendered it null and void. The Constitution? F that.

Brexit is exactly the same. That's why Kavanaugh's fight is our fight too. We are all Kavanaugh and Brexiteers from now on.....everywhere!

I'm trying to tell you he doesnt have any stature, he's a political hack that got his seat as a favor for being a G.W. Bush operative. The ABA recommended not giving him the District seat back then, and the recommend against him now. Yale Law School, his Alma Mater, is recommending not confirming him under these circumstances. He is not well thought of by any serious jurist.

Beyond that, he is a man baby. That performance was indicative of the emotional maturity of a fifteen year old. I wouldn't have someone that damaged at any level of my company. If you cannot maintain composure at all costs, you are weak and unfit.

See above on Kavanaugh. He is not highly thought of outside political operative circles.

Neil Gorsuch went to exactly the same school, followed the same path, and flew through confirmation just last year recieving several democratic votes along the way. There's no conspiracy here, this guy just sucks.

He'd give Trump a pass on all the corruption cases working their way up is the main reason he wants him. The GOP in general is just worried about owning the libs or whatever. Hardiman would have been confirmed in a blink, they should have gone that route.

The dumbest part of this whole deal is the center of gravity of the swing vote, Robert's, is actually left of what it has been most of all of our lives so it doesnt even really matter. Just pick someone unimpeachable and move on.

If that is all true and self evident - why did the Democrats - resort to such a cringe worthy (at the very best) and reckless tactic to bring this ''man baby'' down? Most political operatives are despised outside of their circles. This is something more. The man's been moving and working in political circles long before Trump.

If he was so weak and useless, they wouldn't have had to resort to such a foul and stench ridden tactic.

It's now back fired on them, as whatever Kavanaugh was before, he is now the common man.

But wait....there is a glimmer of hope for the Democrats.....they can redeem themselves and wait for it...…..aghast! Jordan Peterson has given his thumbs up, what mischief is this?:

I know reality isn't really your wheelhouse, but no.

That means nothing.....what is important is whether he is guilty or innocent. Popularity should not come into it.

Is this to be trial by popularity?

Press the red button now for guilty, green for innocent?

I think your system is more robust than that and as there is no criminal case filed or reported...ahem!....America will show it's stars and credentials as Just.

You missed a perfect segue for one of your always amusing " I can go into a bar in the rough part of town and get on with the working man " stories middle class people are so fond of telling.

You will find that many decent companies have way higher standards when it comes to their employees or members than the administrations of the Western world.

As that old crony Bernard Shaw said. A country gets the politicians it deserves.

The US has Trump and Clinton we have Corbyn and Bojo...

He is a superman, he never passed out or forgot things throughout his high school drinking career. I call bullshit on that. What kind of a werido says I liked beer and I drank beer. I still like beer. Do you like beer. Fucking Forest Gump. He keeps calendars for 36 years because his dad did it? Obviously he got his old man's wanker genes.

Plus I was always suspect of the guy with more girl friends than male friends especially now that we know he wasn't shagging. I could see him wearing the double-barrelled beer hat with straws dry humping everything that moved at parties.

In this case, the gentleman in question has a track record in the legal profession and has been a Circuit Judge since the mid 2000's and teaches at the Harvard Law School. They haven't just picked some bum in a bar and put a suit on him.

He has also been through several FBI background and security checks. My wife has a high level security clearance and de facto I have as they go through your partner also. And I mean everything: bank balances, loans, where you've travelled, email addresses, social media, any aliases on social media, have you ever been on gambling website, etc, etc. And I am told they check your porn habits to see if you are open to being black mailed.

If there was any real dirt on this Judge Kavanaugh he wouldn't be where he is now and as Trump said the FBI investigation is a blessing in disguise.

The ad hominem on his beer drinking habits shows the elitist snobbery of the Left. He drinks beer how uncouth! Also the stuff above on be waring of any man who has female friends and keeping a diary. But do carry on with the Forrest Gump comparisons. I'm sure they'll eventually stick because he's obviously some hilly-billy.

At this stage, the Democrats are so far down the rabbit hole there doesn't appear anyway back for them....they must, like Labour in the UK, embrace the radical elements to their conclusion i.e. Church going educated, upper middle class professional = attained solely by white privilege and must be considered a sexual predator until he confesses white guilt and we say otherwise.

I find it very sad that so called educated liberals who are so proud of their progressive values are the ones most possessed by the mass hysteria and hypnosis of our times.

everything i own. what are the parameters?
Roe v. Wade is repealed. No window dressing like picking around the edge.

Someone has to bring a case that there's something that wasn't addressed in the original ruling, that the only way to overturn a Supreme Court case, just like any appeal in America.

I dont know how to set the time frame, maybe just by 2020.

Please wash your car before you drop it off here.

Hmmm. What if they dont totaly repeal it but effectively make it all but impossible to get an abortion?

Why pray tell are we talking about a woman's right to choose? Is this the 1960s again?

Should we talk about segregation of dark people?

A complete repeal of Roe v. Wade wouldn't do that, it would just send it to the states.
No but they might chip away at it with some horseshit ruling so that when the states get it theyll roll back the regulations so much that doctors and clinics wont want to do it either out of cost or because theyll lose their licenses.

Theyre already accomplishing that through housing and property. In many areas now segregation is worse than it was in the 60's.

I don't know why there is all this hoo-hah about Kavanaugh. Even if we assume for the purposes of argument that "Dr." or "Professor" (or whatever the Hell she is reverently styled) Ford is telling the absolute truth about the incident, what does it amount to? A drunken teenage boy briefly "got fresh" with a slightly younger girl for a few minutes 36 years ago. Big Fuckin' Deal! She was quite unscathed, yet she claims that this trivial incident, "seared onto her hippocampus" (or however she pedantically put it) , has traumatized her for life! This helps confirm a long-held suspicion of mine that a lot of the people who are attracted to the mental health field are themselves pretty nutty! Physician heal thyself!

Oh yeah, she claims that his putting his hand over her mouth made her fear for her life. Hey, it is quite impossible to suffocate somebody by putting your hand over her mouth, even if you pinch her nostrils shut. I did it a time or two (not pinching the nostrils) when I was living in apartments and my paramours were being too noisy. There were no hard feelings afterward. Now if Kavanaugh had tried to choke the life out of her, that would be an entirely different matter.

The fact that Kavanaugh and Judge were supposed to be laughing merrily makes me inclined to believe, if the story is true at all, the whole business was just light-hearted, prankish fun. Moreover, if I were about to have sex with a woman and a pal of mine disrupted the proceedings by springing on my back, I'd be mad as hell, not laughing!

Hmmm. What if they dont totaly repeal it but effectively make it all but impossible to get an abortion?

Never going to happen: it would mean a return to black market abortions with coat hangers and the likes. If it is about Kavanaugh's position on abortions: why didn't they just target him on the issues? As I said previously, the Democrats are so far down the rabbit hole they believe that they have the moral right to resort to total destruction of their enemies by any means necessary. They're not interested in winning with a positive agenda, only slandering and ad hominem from now on in.

If Kavanaugh goes, then they will do the exactly the same to the next appointee ad infinitum. It's the equivalent of a scorched earth policy.

Awful hit piece. The benchmark should be very simple: is there enough evidence to proceed to a prosecution in a court of law? The answer to that is a big flashing neon signed ''No''. All those fluff pieces in the MSM fall back on emotive responses ''We think she was convincing...'' but without credible evidence and or witnesses it's not and cannot be enough. But if we are to proceed this way, plenty of body language experts, can make a case that the demeanour and manner of the Dr was not convincing.

You have to follow the evidence wherever it leads and in this case it leads nowhere other than an upstanding family man and proven track record as a professional Judge and educator. It is a McCarthy era witch hunt.

I see The Daily Mail have wheeled out James Comey and some Chad Ludington who's specialisation is the effect of wine drinking on politics in England from Cromwell to the Victorian era. Clearly a professior who knows a thing or two about drinking.

doghouse doghouse , have you ever considered running for a public office and replace those sell-out types both in Congress and Senate?
You run a successful business, dress well and you have both a posh and a bad-ass hobby.
That should get you votes from gents and ladies, the wealthy and the poor/ rednecks.
Given your business background I also have a slogan for you: "Building a new America!"™

Yes, I have considered it many times over my life. When we did one of those 'what job do you want when you grow up' things in 4th grade, my choice was President. And in my old age fully realize there's no way in hell I could deal with the outright insanity needed.

I would have been a great Senator in like 1984. It's gonna take some people way more determined than me to fix this trainwreck now though.
