What TV Shows Are You Watching?

New Perry Mason on HBO has some potential. Very atmospheric and the dude from The Americans is awesome.

First ep was kind of boring. Lets hope it has more substance to match its style

I dug it, but it did seem a little OTT with the bleakness. Noir should be dark, but with a little panache.

Victim-Number-8-Season-1-Netflix.jpg

I started this 8 part Spanish series yesterday. Midway thru the 5th ep.

An act of terrorism takes place in the town of Bilboa(kills 8) and the police/authorities have a name/picture of the assailant.

The assailant says he is innocent. His girlfriend agrees. His family(well, his mother) can't believe he had anything to do with radical Islam. He goes on the run!

The very pregnant policewoman leading the investigation has to deal with the very wealthy family who lost their son, a senior "FBI type" who gets sent to take over the search/operation and stress/her medical condition.

There is more at play here than meets the eye as several try to capture the young man and several try to prove his innocence. He did it...right? Left! I mean......who knows?

I really tried to finish it last night, but fell asleep. I will have my final/complete review tomorrow/Wed after I do.

So far....3/5.

Hightown had a nice season ending. Neat, not too predictable, no lose ends, nothing crazy for shock value and plenty of room for a second season.

agreed. i enjoyed it.

perry mason on the other hand is just so drab and boring. its amazing to me that with all these great character actors they could produce such a boring, monotonous show.

Started the new episodes last night. Finished 3/6.

This series carefully walks the viewers along the path leading up to the crime/mystery. It uses real life testimonials, actual crime scene phots and reenactments. Each ep is just under 1 hour.

Really not more to say. The title speaks for itself.

So far....I would go 3.9/5.

‘Dark’. Netflix German time travel saga.

Extremely complicated. Lots of characters with minimal introductions. They are often child, teen, adult and elder in various time periods. Very dimly lit.

I have to keep checking back to see what is supposed to have happened on wiki. Enjoyable though. On series 3 at the moment.

Sleepy Hollow season 3 - Goofy and lots of fun
Star Trek DS9 Season 5 - Best Star Trek series yet, imo.

what are the odds - i was literally just coming to post about this. im about halfway through s3 and its just an absolute slog at this point. i have no idea what's going on nor do i seem to care at this point since i need an encyclopedia reference to keep up with this multiworlds shit. reviews seem to be in the toilet for s3 so it seems im not alone on this front. shame since s1 and s2 were so great. i'll probably stick with it since there is literally nothing else on.

Requires full concentration. Even then, I have to go back to wiki. Shame about series 3. But ‘I have started so I will finish’ as they say on the BBC. Episode one, series 3 was fine. Good soundtrack too.

I'm watching Lenox Hill on Netflix. I guess it's strange to be using my leisure time to watch a documentary on a hospital given most of my relatives and my mother worked in health care.

I started P Valley last night. Drama set in a Mississippi strip club. .5/5 mild T&A couldn’t save this steaming turd.

the umbrella academy s2 was better than s1. if you're into that sort of thing its worth a waste of your time.

Just started watching The IT Crowd on Netflix.

It's ridiculous, but hilarious. I really don't know how I haven't discovered it previously.

its a great show. gets a little off the rails in the last season but its worth sticking in there until the end.

season finale of perrry mason last night. even the finale was unsatisfying. its like they were trying to right this show as boring and milquetoast as humanly possible.

Very late to the series, now on the 5th series of The Walking Dead.

Some episodes are good, others move along at a very slow pace and then you get some really dynamic stuff like the raid on the cannibal cult.

It's also very obvious the limitations of filming it all in the Georgia woods. Why not make an escape out into the Arizona desert or something similar? So far out the zombies will never get there.

That's like looking for logic in Terminator movies. Why create an AI and assign it something so important without oversight or governance. Besides no one survives in the deserts of Arizona except cacti, snakes, and retirees with walking canes and hip replacements.

I meant it at the mise-en-scene level. It would have worked better with a broader geographic placing. Lots of travelling across the American continent.

The scenes in Atlanta were cool. Wish they could do more urban shooting.

Watching on Amazon Prime. I know she had 3 kids but she's so attractive...at least to me. Dark hair, dark eyes, probably hair issues.

‘ The Fall’ series about a serial killer set in Norn Iron.

Killers identity is known at the very start, so it is the hunt that is the plot line.

Stars Gillian Anderson. She used to be an American redhead in the X files. She now appears as a very convincing blond Brit. It seems she spent a lot of her youth in London and can easily swap accents. Time has been kind to her. She is better looking than she was as Scully. Character here is a bit too icy though.

I watched a couple of old episodes of the Kenny Everett Video Show over the weekend. The humour is still funny and has dated far less than the upper middle class Monty Python stuff. There was certain edge there that is lost now.

Ok well the second episode was horrible and i really have no idea what this has to do with lovecraft whatsoever. They sold this as a horror series not a civil rights polemic

why not both?

Third episode was pretty good.
