  • Queen Elizabeth turns 90 today - for all but a few of us, we've known no other on the throne.
I just noticed my new boss likes to rap his knuckles on tables and walls like House of Card's Frank Underwood.
Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 6. I remember my father used to listen to this after the really bad days at the office.
Thank you whoever decided to pull the fire alarm last night in my flat. I was trying to catch up on sleep, but you really spoiled it.
Why is it the local flower shop never sends me notification when things are delivered? Buy local rubbish. Conglomerates are better.
Almost no reason to unpack my travel bag as I'm back on the road again on Monday.
Relationships with women: Funny they work just when my credit card starts to work.
I almost left my flat today with a brown suit, brown shoes and black gloves. Luckily I went back and changed the gloves.

Phew - that was lucky! I hope that your wallet and belt were also brown.

Belt yes. Wallet - I have a stainless steel money clip and a card wallet with black/brown tones.

People trust you with kids? I would be checking sippy cups for booze all night.

She was telling me about her trip and which people couldn't handle their alcohol and what the telltale signs are.
7 days till Christmas!!!! It's the most wonderful time of the year...ding dong ding...
Last work day before I'm off next week: 6 margaritas at lunch, 5 whiskys at happy hour, 3 or 4 asahi at dinner. 3 pints of Pride at the pub.
At the symphony. Tchaikovsky Symphony No 6 - all time favourite of mine. Astonishing I see two men in black tie.

Are you one of the two?

I'm in a provincial city. I only wear black tie to opera. I've seen it on the season opening gala but dress standards have declined at the symphony concerts. I wasn't wearing brown shoes and a light coloured suit if that's what you're asking.
It's December 1st. 24 days till Christmas. Baby Jesus' phony birthday can't come sooner.
Took me most of the afternoon but finally got my new mobile up and running. Hurrah!
Why am I at work on my day off? Work martyrdom.

Smalltime martyr - I took the whole month off "on leave" to save the company some money, and have been in the office everyday bar a couple of genuine sickies...

I can't take more than 3 weeks off, but since I only have 4 weeks it's not much of a problem. Work martyrdom is bad for you.
Another four hours and I'll be sober for three days. Three cheers for Mormonism.
Sake - absolutely worst way for an insurance man to get drunk. I've been through half a litre and I feel nothing.
Reading my mother's Asia Pacific trip diary: underdeveloped, poor, isolation, or the piece de resistance - "frugal majority"

Well, I hope that she actually enjoyed herself. I also hope that she wasn't describing Australia when she wrote "underdeveloped, poor, isolation"!

I believe underdeveloped and isolation was end of the rail line in Taiwan from the capitol. Poor was for the Kiwis. Australia was expensive. Tipping was a challenge.

No tipping in Australia as a rule, although you can usually leave a tip in restaurants if you like. Minimum wage is now something like $17/hour, plus penalty rates for weekends, public holidays and over-time work so hospitality staff are sufficiently well-paid to do without tips.
How I want to spend my Canadian pilgrim turkey holiday - on a bloody conference call about an external audit for Finance.
Why did my staff choose to earn the ire of legal when I'm busy all day preparing for an offsite this week?
I was dripping all day. Humidex 36. Temperature was 30 or something. Bloody hot for golf.
