I might not have have much to contribute, as an occasional viewer, but we fucking have to have a thread on this right?

Absolutely. If we had one, I’d have posted the cheating Canadian soccer teams here!

I gotta watch more rugby 7s, it really is a better pace and a lot more exciting.

WTF is up with the women’s beach volleyball? No booty shorts, no bikinis, they are wearing fucking yoga pants!!

Also …

This Peacock viewing experience is the fucking pits. Commercials every 5 minutes and you have to wait a full 24 hours to watch a replay of an event. What's the purpose in that???

The Max experience is so good. At least here in Europe. I guess they stream everything, and have no commercials.
Right now, I can choose between 26 different live feeds.

For reference I’m finally able to watch the replay of USA v Serbia now. I’m at 6:40 of the 2nd period and I’ve now had 7 minutes of commercials. The put countdown timers in the bottom left corner.

Just hit halftime. For reference I’ve seen this Walmart commercial three times already.

Now we’ve got both the Colorectal Cancer Alliance and the Parkinson’s Alliance commercials.

Why don't you use one of the ad-free streams, if necessary with a VPN?

American coverage focuses on basketball, swimming and gymnastics… skipping all the more interesting sports that we couldn’t see any weekend. Like the women’s saber:

Am stressed trying to avoid anything remotely Olympic. Itß everywhere here in Oz. Even gets mentioned on Classical ABC Radio DAB. Opium of the people turbo charged

I haven’t seen any that have replays or anything other than live streams. I have the same issues with live sports streams. If you have any recommendations I’m all for it.

My favorit discovery this time, is still rugby 7's. Last time, it was climbing - so looking forward to that starting up.
Womens (girls) skateboarding was disappointing. No point in watching kids repeatedly fall on concrete, while trying to look 'street for the culture'.

https://www.ardmediathek.de/sport-olympia-paris and then go to where it says full-length competitions:

Probably not every single one, but they do have a lot. You will need to VPN yourself to Germany to watch (and suffer the German commentary). Same if you go to https://www.zdf.de/sport/olympia/sportart-a-bis-z-olympia-100.html, then pick a sport you like, then scroll down until you see previous competitions:

They also seem to not have every competition as a replay and I also don't know if there is something like an x-hour wait until it is online... So that may or may not help. Generally both should be without commercials though. They show pretty much everything as a live stream as well,

Best thing here is the broadcaster holder has an app where you can choose your adventure, basketball, swimming, archery, fencing. skateboarding...it's all on view.

Big Parma strikes again! Italian gymnast and Olympic silver medalist Giorgia Villa is sponsored by Parmigiano Reggiano, resulting in her taking photos with huge wheels of cheese 😅

I don’t care if she was born intersex or has one of a number of sex chromosome disorders, Castor Semenya was banned by the IAAF for being intersex and having too much natural juice.

Similarly Khelif was found to be very juicy and stripped of a world championship medal but the IOC doesn’t listen to the IBF.

Semenya was a runner. This one can actually hurt someone.

Kinda looks like Pauley Shore’s tougher brother

Which of those reasons makes it a sport?
You’ve not offered reasons, only your opinion.

Shooting, the competitive kind, has been known as sports shooting. Took off in the 1850’s. The good ol’ NRA dates back to the 1870’s.

The Olympics adopted the rifle, pistol, shotgun format from the sports shooters.

Modern Pentathlon is a goofy sport, with pistol shooting as a component. That is a SPORT I would not miss if it disappeared.

You must think archery is not a sport too.

What about biathalon. Surely shooting on skis is a legit sport.

I have also not claimed to have any reasons.

Air pistol shooting is really cute, I remember that as one of everyones favorite birthday party activities when I was a kid.

Archery in the Olympic format certainly isn't a sport. Biathlon however is.

You must think Counterstrike, or whatever kids play today, is a sport. Or Darts, or Snooker.

Which of those reasons makes it a sport?
For one, the combination of mental and physical skill displayed on the range, both in training and in contest. It takes enormous dexterity, to be able to control your actions to the level displayed.

We played soccer at birthday parties. So random running around after a ball, for no other reason than to kick it across a line.
