Gotcha
Bel is the only EG retailer in Barcelona afaik, and their shirts are or were made by Fray. Very tasteful shop and oriented to a very old/mature client.Bel Y Cia is one of the best shops I have been in for sheer quaity of make on products. I was really taken with a mint green cashmere Teba in there but it was too short for me. They did offer to make me one to measure and post it onto me but I'd want to try it on before paying that sort of wonga out. If I remember right it was 700 euros, not so bad for a nice coat MTM in cashmere. I've got a green linen one by Justo Gimeno. Not in the same league but it gets a regular wearing for loafing about during summers.
aristoi bcn are you wearing this spanish untailor creature named Teba?
I agree with aristoi bcn , although these days in Madrid you see more and more young people wearing tebas, as some see it as a less formal alternative to a suit/separates in a business environment. No, and I only know one person of my age or +10 years who wears it. I think I mentioned it somewhere before but the Teba is worn only by old (plus 65) AND conservative people. Their sons (my age or a bit older) are wearing uniqlo technical or similar puff gilets or Patagonia polar jumpers instead.
But I don't live in Madrid or Sevilla. Maybe there is different. Among the community of Spanish expats/immigrants in the european northern country I live I see what I say above.

NO.aristoi bcn belinmad robertito Do all those old Teba wearers also have to be (former) facists? I'm not trying to offend anyone, it's just curiosity, because in some countries the political affilation can easily be inferred from dress/grooming (e.g. the different mustache types in Turkey, etc.).
e. ok so that was probably already answered by aristoi bcn
lol I'm not so sure about that date.NO.
We haven't had fascists in Spain since 1,930s. Also I don't quite understand what aristoi bcn means with the word 'conservative.' What is true is that Teba wearers are most likely be white collar people working in an office rather than blue collar people.

The working class has never worn Tebas unless they were (long time retired) El Corte Inglés sales associates.
Teba has aristocratic/monarchic roots and acquiring a Teba has always been/is a political act rather than a practical one.
I doesn't have to be a conscious political statement in order to be one. I doesn't even have to be a statement at all, maybe that is to strong, it can be a lot more subtle than that.I am sure that my father that was businessman wore his tebas because they were practical to him and not because of any political statement he wanted to make, at least in the 80/90 in the provincial town in the north of Spain.
Agree on that and on the idea of a 'uniform' that everybody unconsciously assumes when dressing but a teba has never been part of that uniform.I doesn't have to be a conscious political statement in order to be one. Hala Madrid!.

fuck you Were you supporting El Pupas because of Simeone?not a great week for you then - Aupa Atleti!
That is an interesting article.I have neither mentioned Franquist connotations nor pejorative ones in regards to the Teba. But nobody can deny that it is a piece worn mostly by conservative and older people.
Nowadays, whoever buying and wearing a Teba is quite consciously doing a political act. You would never see someone voting Podemos or PSOE wearing a Teba, would you?
Is that a challenge? Podemos for sure no. They will not even wear jackets or suits. Not sure about PSOE.I have neither mentioned Franquist connotations nor pejorative ones in regards to the Teba. But nobody can deny that it is a piece worn mostly by conservative and older people.

This is a good one for the disagreeable thread: poor cut, poor fit, unsuitable look.
He is definitely a prime candidate for anything disagreeable. This is a good one for the disagreeable thread: poor cut, poor fit, unsuitable look.
Something about this general combo really works. Reminds me of this pic of Bruce:Quite a lot of colours here, but well matching and giving an agreeable whole. I especially like the contrast of khaki and beige in coat and trousers with the lovely blue of the cardigan. The red and green, but rather subdued, in the socks and tie fit well in my eyes.

Yes. It is arguably a bit bland. That is a criticism I frequently receive myself from Mrs Ambrose.^I'd prefer a bit more contrast - either a darker jacket with more pronounced blue or brown, or a light blue shirt (instead of the seemingly-white shirt). It all looks a bit too washed out for my taste.
I find it a nice, pleasant change from the heavy, colourful peacocking so many men feel inclined to practice. The jacket might be a little longer and a little loser but that’s certainly personal.Yes. It is arguably a bit bland. That is a criticism I frequently receive myself from Mrs Ambrose.
It's definitely a nice change from peacocking. One gets the impression that with some of the iGentry such OTT displays are a substitute for the lipstick and mascara that would like to use but aren't yet brave enough.I find it a nice, pleasant change from the heavy, colourful peacocking so many men feel inclined to practice. Exactly. Men owning fine clothes should not attempt to aggressively draw attention. It is a sign of insecurity and reserved for women who have many other qualities. Often, smaller or otherwise less well built men practise this and it never oozes class. It's definitely a nice change from peacocking.
