I confess I’m a bit bored with black faced Rolex imitators as they seem to be very thick on the ground these days but if you’re gonna do it then given your penchant (obsession?) for all things Bondian then this may be the one for you, especially if it’s as waterproof and bulletproof as a Seiko diver ought to be, The quirky branding might slightly set it apart from the numerous Seiko divers et al out there. Report back! That’s just the financially unsound enabling I was looking for!
$625, which is steep for a Rolex 6538 homage with a Seiko movement. But it looks nice and all indicators suggest it’s very well made.

I ended up passing because I saw how badly they plastic crystal was getting scratched up on them after doing some more research.
Interesting. Yeh, they seem like a real Instagram watch - nice in pics, probably not as nice irl.I ended up passing because I saw how badly they plastic crystal was getting scratched up on them after doing some more research.
In the end it’s still a Swatch.Interesting. Yeh, they seem like a real Instagram watch - nice in pics, probably not as nice irl.
I was looking around at all these $200-$300 NH35/8 Submariner homage watches to scratch that 6538 itch, but none quite hit the mark.
After a deeper dive I discovered all the parts available individually. It’s still cheap Chinese shit, but I think I can assemble something close to what I want for the same price or a bit less. And when I say assemble, it’s really just dropping the movement in the case, pulling the hands on and sealing it all up. I may even do a better job with the gaskets making sure it’s really waterproof. For around $200-$250 total, I can go with the Seiko movement or maybe a Miyota 9015.
Sounds like a fun project to create the vintage Roleksh homage I’m looking for. That or it will provide to comic relief to the forum members here as recount my woes of ineptitude in watchmaking.
Looks solid in this pic. Looks nice on a NATO
Which do you prefer? Bracelet or strap?
I like it. Captures that vintage Rolex look without being too tacky fake. Though the crystal and bezel are so fresh while the dial and hands look older - I thi k it will look better in a few years. That’s actually a pre-NATO single pass strap. Connery wore one like that in Thunderball (but too narrow for his watch).Looks solid in this pic. Looks nice on a NATO

I don’t love it, but damn that is a good price. An SW200 movement for $215 isn’t shabby at all.Glycine Men's Watch GL0124

Dropbear this seems like it might be up your alley.
the sw200 is a better clone of an ETA-2824 movement so its not exactly like getting a rolex at this point.I don’t love it, but damn that is a good price. An SW200 movement for $215 isn’t shabby at all.

I currently using a Merci LMM-01 as my beater. It has a SW210-1.
Honestly I have found, that I'm not a big fan of manual movements for daily wear, and the 42h power reserve is a bit low. SW200 has 38h.
If I wasn't spending my money on hookers and blow, I'd get a watch with an automatic movement and higher power reserve for everyday wear.
True. Why not just get a quartz at that point?
Sorry to hear about that. Let us know how the replacement hunt goes.Grand Potentate By chance the watch stopped working this morning. Can't wind power into the movement. Honestly I'm not sure it's worth the cost, to get it fixed.
