Geez I love polo coats. Nice specimen, though I thought flapped patch pockets were a requirement to call it a polo coat?

Not necessarily. The reason that the triple flaps are so popular for this model is because that is how Ralph makes them (made in Italy with Polo Ralph Lauren branding). I think the list price has recently been increased to $2500!

The correct details are: full-length, full-cut, double-breasted styling with nice full peak lapels, set-in sleeves, made up of camel-hair (blends with/and other tissu are not unseen, considering how fine and delicate camel-hair actually is. . .). This should (re)produce the ideal silhouette. I also prefer stitched-down cuffed sleeves, the flapped breast pocket, and the buttoned half-belt on the back. Yet since this overcoat became really popular at a time when ready-made, off-the-rack products were quite rare, if not altogether non-existent, the styling is all over the place in iconic outfits (and in Apparel Arts).

Check out some fine specimen here:

I would suggest you seek a more reputable retailer, as Ralphy-Boy is clearly chasing some Arab's money.

I have no problem with "Arab money," whatever that means. No racist, is the true.

Horses for courses. NVM. YMMV.

At any rate, I already have one that I snagged from eBay. Too bad that I hardly take it out of storage in lovely Southern California.

Marketing dear boy, same as the Rolex Daytona was envisaged to soak up the Arab market. Arabs in places like London, do tend to have more disposable income than your average cat.

Clearly the price full whack is rather steep, you'd be better, getting on ebay/sale or seeking an alternative for below half price.

Sure.

I don't think this is full-cut or full-length, but the styling is mostly there. . . It should do for most iGents on the forum:

Veeeeerri nice specimens indeed. Of all kinds of coats I think it's teh most awesomest. Shame about the RL prices but I'm still hoping some will pop on the Bay someday.

If you have a good sense of your measurements, and this can be a little more difficult for an overcoat than it is for an SC or a shirt, if you are patient and not overly picky with the details, there is a whole range of polo coats on eBay.

Exhibit A (fruits of a quick search in addition to the Noël Cowardesque Attolini-iteration above. . . From what you have been sharing on the forum, I have the intimation that the last two may actually fit you):

Made for SEARS (ffs!), in the US of A: https://www.ebay.com/itm/STUNNING-Vtg-Golden-Brown-ITALIAN-Wool-Cashmere-Peak-Lapel-Over-Coat-USA-38-40/263383365120?_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIM.MBE&ao=2&asc=49564&meid=bb79854c6f734696bbd5774b843936b7&pid=100005&rk=6&rkt=6&sd=263383424380&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851

Staunchfield for Lucas (whatever that means to us. . . let's say VINTAGE), American union-made: https://www.ebay.com/itm/STUNNING-Vtg-Brown-Tan-Wool-Peak-Lapel-Belted-POLO-Over-Coat-USA-40-L-Ivy-Trad/253307555616?_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIM.MBE&ao=2&asc=49564&meid=d4fdd752068f492da155e1db3a552ff4&pid=100005&rk=6&rkt=6&sd=122853697425&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851

Alpacuna for Small's (again, VINTAGE, a camel/wool blend with misleading branding), American union-made: https://www.ebay.com/itm/STUNNING-Vtg-Brown-Camelhair-Wool-Peak-Lapel-Belted-POLO-Over-Coat-USA-36-38-Ivy/263383424380?_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIM.MBE&ao=2&asc=49564&meid=f528074768044a81a0972c775bbbe72a&pid=100005&rk=6&rkt=6&sd=253307555616&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851

Oldschool BB, American union-made: https://www.ebay.com/itm/VTG-Brooks...949940?hash=item33dcdf3db4:g:6v8AAOSwIVhaK5KN

Last but not least, the ICONIC specimen (from the days of yore, made in Canada):
https://www.ebay.com/itm/ICONIC-Pol...697425?hash=item1c9aa6a791:g:j50AAOSwv-ZaLXiD

It didn't take all that long for me to score one, as I was mostly invested in (or, rather, obsessed with) getting something full-length, full-cut, and double-breasted with full peak lapels in camel-hair more than anything else. That it came with cuffed sleeves, half-belt on the back, and flapped pockets was the honey on my bumuelos. With all the due respect, I couldn't care less about a breast pocket on an overcoat. Your gloves, you can stuff into your side pockets. And, as everyone's favorite international man of intrigue and writer Coward amply demonstrates above, you can always let your freak flag fly in the form of a silk scarf for an extra dollop of foppishness. Cigarette to the prehensile extremity and thick, large tomes pressed against the torso: optional.

Believe me, you don't need a PS on an overcoat.

Also, 100% agree on breast pockets not needed at all on an overcoat. My only coat doesn't have it and I don't miss it.

Did someone say polo coat?

Whilst the construction of this is lovely and i guess he DTO'd it from the Duke's sample above but there is such a thing as 'too much belly'; ipso facto, looks like a woman's coat:

A nice change of pace would be a polo in a different colour other than the golden-tan. Menswear or not, i quite liked this from the swedish igent, though i'd make the lapels larger and make the cut loser.

Camel doesn't suit pale men. The Loro Piana earthy fabric is way better. Good choice by the Swedish Aryan.

Whilst i won't state categorically whether 'certain colours suit certain men better etc'; the donkey/ earthy fabric is a nice change of pace to the golden tan of the original camel. It takes a sometimes stodgy #menswear item and gives it a jauntier look - especially for younger men.

I agree. Don't remember the name of the fabric but it's a special Loro Piana one. Good alternative to the usual and too yellowish camel to my taste.

Both via milstil.

re: the above inanities on "change(s) of pace" and other faux pas, milstil has once written: "'round this time of year Pitti Uomo photoposts will hit the #menswear blogosphere carpet bombing style, I expect to see a lot of 'camel coat’ mutations and other beige half breeds dreamed up by ignorant but courageous enthousiasts who think they can improve on the classics. Clever dressers will try to avoid these camel mutations, Mother Nature has a tendency to kill the vast majority of mutations off in just one generation, fashion kills them even faster. Don’t be victim, make sure your camel coat is a purebred."

ololo you must be one of those fat cat customers of kirby allisons hanger abortion project.

I'd never waste so much money on hangers. I can thrift two jackets for the price of one of those things.
I just think beefier hangerz are better for your jacket shoulders.

Caveat: they might forestall the accumulation of many years on those shoulders! Not ideal.

Verri nice overcoat, though it also looks like you stole the blanket from that puppy that got it from me. Give it back!

how dare you, badtaster. . .

I’d told you that I was merely envious. Though this being glen plaid, I don’t think it really qualifies as a “horse blanket.”

But, man, do I have something to show you in a few weeks!

It sure looks like that tissue the badass dog was standing on.
I'm eager to see your tablecloth!
