Daniel Craig has been wearing this Prada cardigan for over 13 years now and still rocking it. As the story goes, the actor had no consciousness of style when he landed the Bond role but did a deep dive, recognising that this was a key facet of the character he’d just signed a five-film deal to play. He landed on a Steve McQueen coffee table book that became a playbook for several years (and ultimately influencing the film wardrobe as well).

The first pic is the cardi with an RM Williams braided belt and C&J Skye boots with unknown selvedge jeans.

Everyone writes about Steve McQueen’s ‘iconic style’, but usually this entails some lazy posting citing something the wardrobe department put him in for a film (usually Bullet). This is a disservice to the man’s own style, which was often more bold yet always masculine. My favorite is this photoshoot with then-wife Nellie Adams, wearing the blue cardigan, grey tshirt, bone Bedford cords with red wine stain and playboy chukkas:

NO

everything is just a bit too tight to be good.

Jacques Dutronc on the Riviera in 1968. Admittedly, the jacket in hand is a bit suss- I hope he isn’t planning to wear it over the short sleeved polo.

One look that stuck with me is Rihanna at the Met Gala in that giant yellow Guo Pei gown. That wasn’t just a dress—it was a whole vibe. She basically shut the whole event down.

I just watched Three Days of the Condor. Redford killed it with these outfits:

The final photograph of David Bowie, taken by Jimmy King just days prior to his passing nine years ago.

I remember that pic but didn’t know it was taken so close to his passing.
I think he lost his hair due to chemo which would explain the lid.
He should know better than to be fastening the bottom button of the jacket eh?
Hard to believe he had days to live from this - he looks in good shape.
2016 was a shit year - we lost so many including Prince and Muhammad Ali.

I wonder if the button thing was something to do with weight loss. Maybe the back is full of clothes pegs?

For me, Bowie proves the point that you can break all the rules and traditions in the world and be as weird and as eccentric as you want - but you should still know and understand the norms first. Because often they were based on some good common sense.

Not really ‘awesome’, more like noteworthy: Kid Cudi at the P Diddy trial wearing a really nice condition vintage Hercules jacket. My guess would be around ‘56-‘59:
