Manton referenced the tan baby poop or band-aid colored shoe in his igent manual. This, like monk straps and chukka boots, is one of those things that are ubiquitous on #menswear but I never, ever see them in real life. Well, maybe a tad in the last few years, but I assuredly went a few decades not seeing them in the wild.
The darker, reddish Allen Edmonds chili color (which I like) poses enough issues for me. Is it seasonable in winter? Okay with darker trousers? The shades of walnut or chestnut or cornnut are too much for me. And I also worry that they would stain up awful and darken irredeemably, yielding charmless dinginess instead of some woodsy patina.
Leitmotif
and his use of light AE Strands (or Neumoks??) with light blue trousers is the only example I've seen that I like. It's a warm weather and somewhat casual shoe to me, in that color. I cringe when I see the igent wearing tanny shoos with dark worsted suits.
