I'm looking to pick up some new glasses for the liquor cabinet. Some highball and brandy glasses. Any suggestions out there? I'm not looking for cut crystal.

bdeuce22 -- those look nice. As for cut crystal, I'm talking about this kind of stuff. Some people like it and that's fine, but to me it looks like it belongs in a Tudor mansion.

Grand Potentate Grand Potentate -- I'm thinking reasonably expensive but not Baccarat crystal or anything. Crate and Barrel and upwards I guess.

Hmm. Well, if you wanted something relatively simple and well priced, I liked the Martha Stewart stuff I got from Macys. Proper sized for drink mixing as well.

Plus, you can always find Macys coupons to make it cheaper.

I like this route for 2 reasons - Don't have to worry too much about them breaking, and don't have to worry about finding replacements when they break. I'm a big advocate of cheap glasswear.

Well, there is a lot of logic to that. I was thinking about these from Riedel. Two for $50 and then break them out when the company warrants it (or if its been a shitty week).

Not even that. I've broken more glasses in the fucking sink than I have anywhere else. Or in the dishwasher. Once its chipped its fucked.

But having a nice reserve set isn't a terrible idea. Its the everyday stuff that should be cheap. Buy an economy pack of wine glasses at Costco.

The Speigelau ones look good. The thing with cognac/brandy glasses is that you need the glass to be really thin so your hand heats up the cognac a bit. Opposite for a beer glasses.

This is making me thirsty.

I'm going to check out the tulip glasses. I like the shape.

They're EXCELLENT for beer. Even non-dark beers taste great in them. Thanks to bdeuce22 for tipping me off about them. I had the Crate & Barrel ones. Worked great. I think it was these:

Could have been these:

They also sell those Spieglau glasses individually, if you want to try one:

So I ended up picking up these Iittala beer mugs from Crate and Barrel. Also picked up some whiskey tumblers that I will post when in action.
