As above, I'm looking for some nice headphones. Just remember around here we don't have a lot of brands.

I have tried some of the ones we have available here.

- Bang & Olufsen: I have the Beolit12 speaker and I thought the headphones would be as good as the Beolit but no. I mean the sound is sharp but where's the bass? The Beolit12 with his 100 watt power gives you a nice punch, why they didn't do something similar to the headphones?

- Beats: I tried the ones designed by David Guetta. To be honest I don't like tha brand but these ones sounded pretty cool, nice definition and nice amount of bass.

- Skull-Candy: I tried a version that allows you to control the bass... definition is passable and the bass at the top makes your chicks vibrate.

- Panasonic: I tried some version that is made for DJ's. They sound nice but wasn't sold completely on them.

- Marsall: They were good but would need to try them again.

- Bose: Nice but something like the B&O.

So, which ones would - eventhoug they are not listed - you prefer and why?

Thanks!

Do you want them more for noise cancelling or for sound quality?

Do you need something portable or big headphones like Beats?

Well this headphones are meant to be used when I can't listen music in the Beolit, usually when it's late. So for when I'm reading or just laying on the couch or my bed. I will not even consider to use them for the gym. I already have some Beats that came with one HTC phone so those are for the gym.

Well I would like to have sound quality but I feel that noise cancelling headphones give the ability to provide quality and good bass. Or am I mistaken?

Not mistaken necessarily but you're sort of running parallel to the concept. Noise cancelling is for blocking out outside distractions. Like on an airplane or the metro. Sound quality is sound quality. But just because a headphone has noise cancelling does not mean that it produces good quality sound. It may, but it all depends on the particular model.

This ^^.
The GREATEST quality noise canceling headphones won't necessarily sound that great on a plane(watching movies on their system.)
The GREATEST quality sounding headphones will/can/may sound just ok when listening on a portable device.

But as 'Bo said, noise canceling isn't/doesn't necessarily give you great sound. The Bose overear was rated the best NC travel headphones.....but that doesn't mean they produce the best quality sound.

If you lived in Manhattan, you would love B&H Photo(probably the best photo shop in the US and the rest of the electronics is nothing to sneeze at.) Unrestricted return policy. No questions asked. As long as you have the packaging and receipt.

Earlier this year, I bought a pair of over-ear Bose noise canceling headphones for a trip to Bangkok. I opened them. Used them only on the flights. When I got home, my homegirl got me a pair of Beats(w/o knowing I had the Bose.) I took the Bose back to B&H. Refund without question.

I would have kept them but I really only use over-ear headphones when I travel. I never wear them walking around the city or at home. I also really didn't get a chance to really evaluate them except on the plane.

The funny thing is that the Beats that I received are sitting unopened in the box in my study. Like I said, I just use them for travel and I haven't been abroad since May(Bangkok.) I will try them out in Jan or Feb when I return.

I have a pair of the new Bose QC25's. They are absolutely fantastic as noise cancelling headphones and pretty damn good as regular headphones as well. Is there something that sounds better in the $300 range? Sure. Is there anything that comes close that also has noise cancelling? No.

I think they have a Bose shop in Mexico Betel.

Yeah, there's a few. Also someone told me about the QC20's. I fear in-ear headphones because sometimes my ear channel hurts but they told me the plastic is very soft and they include you differnt sizes.

I had the QC20's and had to trade them in for the 25's. I can't do IEM's without ear pain and couldn't ever get comfortable. Either they would start to hurt or fall out. Also, the cord is annoyingly short, so I was constantly knocking them out.

The 25's are WAY better.

Etymotic ER-4 have the sickest noise cancelling ever, and its not active which doesn't degrade your music, those are passive meaning that no 'drone' sound its put int he music. The bad thing about them is that you need a bad ass amplifier to move them properly if you want to use them with an ipod or anything similar though. I have Triple fi 10 with effect audio cable + Fiio E10 amp through hand made oxygen free copper cable with a cowon J3. Sound its pretty fucking good.

This sounds nice but how much was the hit?

Triple fi 10 that I have I bought them 6 years ago and they still work fine, other than changing cables every 6/7 months depending on the use. I got them for 400 dollars back then you can find them used for 120 and believe me they will last you. Etymotics 4r are around 160 dollars plus a good amplifier say 160 dollars the E11 I think could move them pretty well. If anything please let me know and more than happy to help you.

Thanks! Let me do a search for the headphones and the amplifier, I never heard you can amplify headphones.

Its cool, just let me know. For example the one that I use most of the time is a fiio e11 and at home I have a E9 paired with a E7 and it wasn't that costly around 200. Amplifiers go from 20 dollars really cheap/disposable ones all the way to 10k for a Ray Samuels or something like that.

Amplifiers are a pain in the ass. Plug in headphones, listen to music. I don't want to be carrying around fucking accessories with carrying cases just to listen to some Hendrix.

I thought the same in the beginning, but I have grown used to it and it's awesome. It's all about getting used to it.

How can you use your over-ear headphones with that afro?

It's not that serious IMO. I don't listen to music seriously like that just walking around. the sound is NEVER as good as when you are at home on a quality system. Never.
