Brexit - The UK and the EU

Meanwhile, the Tory rebels have the whip removed and will not be able to stand as Conservatives at the next election and the second coming of Lenin/Chairman Mao and Worzel Gummidge has bottled at the chance of having an election as Labour will be wiped-off the map as a credible opposition and will have to go back to their musty college halls talking about the revolution:

I'm a bit confused. If the House of Commons has no confidence in the PM, shouldn't the PM ask the Queen for permission to dissolve parliament and start elections for a PM and/or House that has the will and confidence to actually govern. The House is convening now at the permission of the sovereign is it not?

According to procedure there needs to be 2/3 majority vote to call an election. With good reason Labour and the Remainers don't want this as overwhelming the constituencies in England are for Brexit and Labour has tanked in the polls and will get decimated in their old stomping grounds of the north.

What looks like now is a attempt to neuter Boris force him to resign and hand over to the ''caretakers'' who will deliver the UK to the EU as a vassal colony to be further punished as an example to all. The 21 Tory traitors have no future as MP's outside of the Conservatives so that's another motivating factor in getting rid of Boris and retaking the party.

Looks like a full-blown constitutional crisis is on the way....

Her Majesty may yet step-in and refuse to sign the bill into law that delivers us to the EU. That would be almost unprecedented, but not completely.

This looks increasingly like a long-play, the MP's are for Remain, but the voters are not and if the mood and polls are correct, then the mandate for Brexit continues to grow. If Boris can hang-on, make a deal with Farage, purge the party of traitors, fill the House of Lords with Brexiteers, then when the election does finally come, Parliament will at last represent the people of Great Britain and not the oligarchy in Brussels.

Conservatives give up on proposed filibuster of anti No Deal legislation.

Labour will agree to an election when it suits them.

Not looking good at the moment.

Conservatives give up on proposed filibuster of anti No Deal legislation.

On the positive side: the conniving, traitorous and quisling Remain positions are exposed with no mask of sanity now, as too the anti-Semitic commie tramp and his coterie of sub-Polytechnic revolutionaries all freedom for Tooting, until they get the chance for power and then piss their collective pants.

Everything to play for now:

I think everyone already knew Boris Johnson was inept, but I don't think many knew just how much so. Mind boggling stuff.

I think everyone already knew Boris Johnson was inept, but I don't think many knew just how much so. Mind boggling stuff.

The odds for a quick, clean delivery of that once in a lifetime choice by the people by a Parliament filled to the brim of Remainers and those willing to trash the British constitution and parliamentary system for a sinecure was always going to be difficult and full of set-backs. And the Remainers are playing a short game, that's good. And too Momentum anti-semite Labour exposed up on Cemetry Ridge pretending to want power when that's the one thing that will ensure their destruction. Like the old Soviet Union they know they lie and they know that we know they lie and yet they continue with their fantasy, utter contemptible gobshites.

Game system theory is kicking in now....mind boggling stuff indeed: just like Russian collusion that many members of this forum boasted about being part of the academic and intelligence service resistance and Gladio operation. Very sure, very proud in their smart virtue signalling, very all gone now. That's the future of the Remainer establishment in the UK and they know it.

Queue the fat bottom girls and calling individuals cunts of distinction.

And remember this: to call someone a cunt or a caaaant in the English vernacular is a term of endearment. You give psychic power to JRM in your taunts. Wonderful stuff.

Yes, noted Remainers like Nicholas Soames are now thankfully sidelined.

Indeed, living proof that genius and greatness are not genetic or inherited and you have the temerity to accuse JRM of looking like an over priviliged and indulged buffoon:

I cannot see Labour agreeing to an election until November at the earliest. They will claim they cannot trust Boris to pull a stroke, or change the date of such an election etc etc.

So I don’t know how it all plays out. Boris says he would rather die than ask for an extension. Will he resign or just ignore any request and wait for parliament to react?

Interesting that the BBC had three leavers on the Question Time panel show tonight and three Remainers. This is a first. Leave voices are in a minority on the establishment propaganda channel. Probably think it safe to do so now Brexit is lost and helpful to counter further claims of media bias.

"In a sign of Britain’s topsy turvy politics, The Financial Times — arguably Britain’s most influential business paper — on Wednesday reported that markets were warming to Corbyn, a politician long painted as a hard-left socialist."

"'The English are a worn-out people. They need to regenerate themselves.'

French president Charles de Gaulle said that 55 years ago to one of his ministers. He also vetoed Britain joining the European Common Market, the predecessor of the European Union. And he vetoed Britain not once, but three times from 1958 to 1963.

After De Gaulle died, the French relented and Britain joined the Common Market in 1973.

Forty-five years later, the English want out, not in. They said so in a referendum in 2016. (The Scots and the Irish of Northern Ireland voted in favour of staying in the EU.) But three years of raucous wrangling over the terms of withdrawal have left the English political class exactly where De Gaulle found them – worn out and in need of regeneration.

Enter Boris Johnson, the man who, according to his sister, wanted, as a child, to be 'world king.' Like his hero Winston Churchill, he aspires to be a man of destiny. Johnson wrote a biography of Churchill that reviewers said read like a self-congratulatory autobiography.

Now, in an echo of Churchill, Johnson has exhorted his parliamentary troops into battle — England again alone against Europe. Britain must leave the European Union on Oct. 31, even without a deal.

But unlike Churchill in 1940, Johnson does not lead a government of national unity. In fact, as of Sept. 3, he doesn't even have a majority in the House of Commons. More than 20 of his own MPs deserted him.

That led to humiliation – his government lost the first three votes with him as prime minister, a new and dubious record."

"He is the pure product of the British elite. There is the buffoon ... and the liar, who didn't hesitate to base his 2016 Brexit campaign on fallacious arguments. There is the dilettante. There is the polite and courteous statesman we saw at the G7 summit. And there is the populist, cynical and brutal prime minister, ready to do anything, including forcing the Queen to suspend parliamentary democracy to achieve his ends."

2011 procedure. It looks like you can still pass a motion of no confidence and immediately dissolve parliament but I reckon as you say Labour wouldn't support dissolving immediately and do a snap election due to the polls and certain other incumbents of any party stripe don't want to give up their day jobs.

I guess you could resign and tell the sovereign the current setup is ungovernable but then she would accept an appointment of someone other than you who can assemble a working government.

Boris says he will not ask for an extension. He did not say anything about resigning though.

If he simply ignores any extension request Parliament will be forced to act.

That said, I do not know why he called off the filibuster in the Lords.

De Gaulle wanted to rig the Common Market to protect French farmers. Once that was done he was less guarded.

Heath lied about the ultimate political goals of the EU. He claimed it was just about trade.

The Establishment in the UK are now all bought and paid for. So they will do whatever it takes to prevent the UK from leaving.

'Tis true the mission is to deliver a compliant Parliament and UK into the jaws of the EU crocodile and snap it shut forever.

Their loyalty is clear and it's not to the mother of all parliaments or the UK. All those cushy numbers and sinecures in think-tanks and EU bodies beats taking the risk of the private sector or being master of one's own destiny. To be part of the post-democratic order and technocratic oligarchy with all its perks and opportunities to find a place and dynasty for oneself and family is probably too tempting for most. Certainly the rank mediocrities that comprise most MP's in the UK.

Still think Boris has cards to play, it ain't over yet!

And if he's such a clown, why did the Remainers bottle it when offered the chance of an election!

Notice the exclamation mark, instead of a question mark. Because we all know the answer: Boris and the Brexiteers would romp home.

Isn't that quite straightforward? No election before October 31st = No Brexit before October 31st = Buffone has to go into election with his central (and only?) promise of Brexit on October 31st broken, within weeks of him becoming prime minister. Could there be a clearer demonstration of his impotence? youhadonejob.gif

Plus he might well resign on/after October 31. He definitely would resign if he had some honor, but he seems to have lost his sense of embarrassment a long time ago.

No, it's complex as you would expect unravelling from a 40 year treaty that exerts control over the economy, industry and increasingly common culture. On top of that a political and establishment class on the payroll.

This is grown up business and the current bill as it stands aims to humiliate in an almost kinky, but most definitely Soviet way the Prime Minister before delivering the Brits into the mouth of the crocodile.

You might beat off to that, but I don't.

How's your uncle getting on?

Did he admit that before he was the head of the organisation and in a strategic role work more than a 4 hour day?

This is a good article that might explain the British psyche on the matter to those who can't quite get to grips why anyone would not accept a gilded cage over freedom like our continental chums and Irish kin:

The Brits are different in same way as Americans are.

I can't say I know much, but I spend a lot of time in Eastern Europe. I can see a dramatic reduction in rights over the past few years. I also believe that I see currency manipulation for the remaining free currencies versus the Euro.

Simple things: if you have a car accident, you must wear a safety yellow vest when leaving your vehicle. How about: If you walk down a village road at night, you must wear a reflective sticker? No cars? Who cares? You can still get fined.

I'm (truthfully) am not sure of my point, but I commend BoJo for staving off the specter of unelected bureaucrats.

The Brits delivered themselves to the mouth of the crocodile decades ago.

More like they bluffed and their bluff was called. Then they huffed and puffed which made the current shambles look even more ridiculous. You don't have any negotiating power after that.

The father of the shambles known as Brexit is remorseful.

"Every single day I think about it, the referendum and the fact that we lost and the consequences and the things that could have been done differently, and I worry desperately about what is going to happen next," he said.

"I think we can get to a situation where we leave but we are friends, neighbours and partners. We can get there, but I would love to fast-forward to that moment because it's painful for the country and it's painful to watch."
