I've had a little yearning to give A. Caraceni a visit next time I'm in Milano. Possibly do a few things of a more casual nature. I don't want slouchy Neapolitan shoulders, but slightly less chest structure wouldn't go amiss for some summer jackets and suits.

Looking through some pictures, it seems Max cuts himself a more concave shoulder than the traditional Caraceni padded shoulder, which appeals to me.

great amateur suit science

What do you do in London? Do you visit just for Savile Row?

Many varied reasons. Mostly I'd schedule long layovers in London when I was sailing full time to be able to pop into town and hit Poole and H&H or Turnbull. Sometimes to watch Chelski matches, sometimes just for the visit. Every now and then I'll get a layover there on my way to Germany for work, we buy some German equipment and I'll do factory visits or trade shows.

The key to top top desktop investigative research is to channel your hate. Thus, you must develop some hate

I need to channel some time. I have approximately 23.5 hours of obligations everyday, hence my drive by bullshit posts.

Was about to suggest the Roman one. I am too much of a small timer to go there (and pay the price). But the place does have that charm of old sartoria and original Caraceni (if that means anything anymore with Caraceni).
Roma is also a much nicer place to visit. It is no on Naples - I know. But still..

I haven't seen any appreciable difference in quality, and I like the style I have seen out of the Milan house more. Also, I actually go to Milan, I would have to make a trip to Rome just to start with that house and then go back a bunch.

Eh, you are really splitting hairs with who is more "original". They are both antique and Augusto started concurrently in the craft with Domenico, then went to Milan via Paris. Not that either has jack shit to do with the current iterations. I've always leaned to A. Caraceni as my preference as I said above.

Honestly, I also prefer Milan, and northern Italy in general, to southern Italy. I actually think Naples is kind of a shithole, which is obviously an unpopular opinion, but it just doesn't do much for me tailoring or otherwise.

Disagree.

You think Naples has better food than Rome? No way. Rome has much more variety. The best Cacio e Pepe, the best Amateiciana, the best Carbonara. Everything is so seasonal as well. Artichoke season is wonderful. It might be a bit harder to find amidst all the crap touristy places, but there are loads of amazing restaurants if you research a bit.

Omigod this is so true, I just creamed my panties.

Huh? I said I like Milan better, not Naples.
