Coronavirus

People who don't want to voluntarily keep their distance, wash their hands, wear a mask, reduce nonessential travel, or otherwise modify their behavior at all in a pandemic be like:

Upon being asked who the point person was for Operation Warp Speed, the press secretary said it was the President. When the reporter said certainly it can't be the President...she had no other answer.

As I thought - months of zero economic activity, it is potential poverty and starvation that will break the lockdown.

Italy, the rock that the EU will perish on, either that, Spain or France (my odds on favorite):

This is very ugly, co-authored by Baroness Warsi, unelectable and yet, held key placements in the Conservatives and now in the House of Lords up to mischief. It is stated with no sense of self-awareness that BAME people are called to the health professions in disproportionate numbers and yet, it is said those very people, in the UK, struggle to access the free-for-all-lets-clap-every-Thursday-because-of-the-great-job-they-do-NHS:

So the NHS, is racist? If it is, reform it and stop clapping. The fact it, it isn't and The Guardian is a cesspit for tolerating this sleazy BS.

The worst one is Doreen Lawrence (now a Dame!).

She claimed the fire brigade was racist for not saving the people in Grenfell Tower. Reckons they would have been OK if they were white. She then refused to apologise.

There's been a concerted effort to discredit Phillips over the last year. He was suspended from the Labour party last month as I recall.

Its interesting, and illustrative...

The cuff links are threatening Australia now :-

Not sure what the balance of trade is there. Just tell them you don’t want their crap in that case and create issues over any assets they hold in Australia.

It works to China's favour. If China stops buying it'll be like the US ceasing to buy Canadian raw materials - not good.

"The next day, Conte sought to clear up the confusion, but instead created more. The premier allowed that congiunti is a 'broad and generic formula.' What he meant, he said, was that Italians could pay visits to 'relatives, and to those with whom they have relationships of steady affection.'

Godparents? Longtime lovers? Couples engaged for years but without a set wedding date, as is frequently the case in Italy?

An early-morning talk show on state radio tried to parse what ties of 'steady' or 'stable' affection mean. Calls and text messages poured in.

One guest, a lawyer who specializes in marriage law, said he has met couples who have been together only a week yet have more stable relationships than some spouses who have been married for years.

For Bianca Amodeo, 17, who lives in the region of Marche, that host’s hypothetical scenario is a painful reality. Her boyfriend of one-and-a-half years — which for many adolescents equates to an exceedingly stable tie of affection — lives not far from her but just across the border in the region of Abruzzo.

Deepening Bianca’s anguish: She has friends with boyfriends who live farther away but within the same region, and they are excitedly planning to see their sweethearts next week."

There's a number of things ideologically unsound with Phillips from the Momentum-Labour Mob perspective: (i) self-made through education and drive, not through the activist Human Rights ticket, absolutely unforgivable for a black man, who must be a victim or peddling the victim narrative as the only legitimate career choice, (ii) he went off-script on Islamophobia and (iii) he saw the risk in Obama the mixed race President who saw himself only as black.

Edit: Good article on Phillips and the attempts to get him thrown off the Corona inquiry:

I'm not surprised the people who attend music festivals like communism. If you love sleeping in crap and lining up for food, you're gonna love socialism.

Well - we wouldn't find it because we ate it.

No, because it was a Bio-lab#4 all gone wrong.

Looking good that we are on the right trajectory here in most of Europe. If we can get back to a semblance of normality by end of June/July we are in good position to stave off depression and bring back manufacturing in a big way.

I'm amused that Canada is never in the graphs. My country is a joke.

Congratulations, you have found one reason why this is fake news.

"Many of the Covid-19 vaccines currently in development target the distinctive spikes of the virus - the idea is that getting your body to recognise a unique element of the spike will help it to fight off the whole virus. But if that spike is changing, a vaccine developed this way could become less effective."

The vaccine isn't the saviour for the world?

"'Trump said he did have a mask on 'for a period of time,' and that he had at least four masks with him during the tour.

'I can’t help it if you didn’t see me, I mean, I had a mask on,' Trump told reporters.

When Trump was seen by reporters and photographers touring the Honeywell plant his face was uncovered, and he was less than 6 feet apart from the Honeywell officials giving him the tour, who were also without masks. Other workers throughout the plant were wearing masks; a sign posted in the building said, 'Please wear your mask at all times.'"

“As some states in the US begin to ease lockdown measures, the future of the handshake remains uncertain.

’I don't think we should ever shake hands ever again, to be honest with you,’ Dr Anthony Fauci, a key member of the White House coronavirus task force, said back in April.

’Not only would it be good to prevent coronavirus disease; it probably would decrease instances of influenza dramatically in this country.’”
