S. Dakota gov says 'we will not be social distancing' at July 3 celebration with Trump at Mount Rushmore

Thousands of people are expected for the event. Masks are optional, too.

"South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem says the thousands of people who attend the July 3 celebration for Independence Day at Mount Rushmore with President Donald Trump will not be required to practice social distancing despite an increase in coronavirus cases across the country.

'We will have a large event at July 3rd. We told those folks that have concerns that they can stay home, but those who want to come and join us, we'll be giving out free face masks, if they choose to wear one. But we will not be social distancing,' Noem, a Republican, said in an interview Monday night on Fox News"

We have fortunately few cases. But just imagine the strain around the world, with high number.s The strain on healtcare personnel, and reasources tied up for this that are needed elsewhere. A familymember survives, but out for who knows how long.

After a 6 week coma, it's the mental capacity as well you've lost. You won't be jumping back into work on full capacity.

From ex-colleagues and acquaintances, there's anecdotal evidence that certain organisations knew what was coming back in January. Changing procedures and running audits to test working remotely, but having everyone working from home to test test this with new shiny laptops.
 
A young man might be lucky and get back to 90% after recovery, physically and mentally. But a middled aged guy or an old one? No way. It will never be the same.

Risk managment is deeply undervalued.

Just this past few days they said asymptomatic people don‘t have immunity. Now even if you don’t have antibodies you have immunity.

“People testing negative for coronavirus antibodies may still have some immunity, a study has suggested.

For every person testing positive for antibodies, two were found to have specific T-cells which identify and destroy infected cells.

This was seen even in people who had mild or symptomless cases of Covid-19.

But it's not yet clear whether this just protects that individual, or if it might also stop them from passing on the infection to others.”

Apparently? Re-opening has shown people to not be intelligent enough to safely navigate in a waning COVID environment such that it contributes to increased community transmission.
