Coronavirus

If the mission is zero Covid, it will fail and we will be in lock-downs all of this year and next year as well.

Lots of exotic diseases pop every year e.g. leprosy and the likes. One person out of the blue.

The strategy should be one of managing it with no deaths and limited hospital cases.

Amazon does testing for the British. I don't know how it is across the pond but I assume they are a large distributor of PPE. At home deliveries are probably through the roof. All they need to do is get into the vaccine business and they have a captive market.

I read somewhere the under 40s are not up for vaccination in Australia but they all want "the Pfizer" .

We're closing up in Q3 and Q4 again? Why?
That is modeling assuming everyone immediately returns to pre-pandemic behaviors, which hopefully they won’t.

But what we are seeing now is that half the population are vaccinated and doing just fine. If you take them out of the picture, then the rates are actually all pretty bad - the same people who won’t get vaccinated also won’t wear a mask, distance, get tested, isolate when sick, etc.

Must have been terrible for him as the USA's top medical expert having to deal with Trump and his idiotic attitude.
Fauci's on a sticky wicket, his reputation hinges on the virus not coming from the Wuhan lab.

Was Trump, Five Eyes and Thai intelligence services right all along?

Why is that even relevant?

Dr Fauci isn’t responsible for investigating the origins of the virus.

When asked last year, he said them at the evidence is very strong that it had a zoonotic origin based on the current evidence. This hasn’t changed and remains the scientific consensus. Like all scientists though, he has called for further investigation so we can reach a more conclusive answer.

Who's doing the Wuhan lab thing? Lets hope its led by the CIA, or some other American government institute otherwise the truth may never come out. Though I guess if they can't find the truth they could always do another investigation, again.

Because obviously it has worked really well so far. This model is just as ludicrously wrong as all the other ones. A chimp rolling dice has a better predictive value.

The noose is tightening around Fauci, best distance yourself now:

The knew early last year if not before. All the rest is stage management.

I know you were an early sceptic on the mortality rates, at the time I was buying into the minimum 3.5% mortality rates and all the rest, the lock downs, etc. But not now.

The best they can come up with is that it's 3x worse than seasonal flu.

The excess mortality rates don't add up. Something is amiss.

Have a sneaky suspicion that they've overplayed it all along as they know it was a biolab leak and possibly a bioweapon in the making, accidently or on purpose. It reached the higher echelons of the western political class extremely fast. In which case, everything makes sense, all the lockdowns and the continued restrictions.

After it's all over, I think we may find a massive reduction in mortality and direct Covid deaths and they will say it was less that double annual flu with an excess death rate of around 1%.

Maybe, just speculating...

As months go by without a host animal that proves the natural theory, the questions from credible doubters have gained in urgency. To one former federal health official, the situation boiled down to this: An institute “funded by American dollars is trying to teach a bat virus to infect human cells, then there is a virus” in the same city as that lab. It is “not being intellectually honest not to consider the hypothesis” of a lab escape.

In the words of David Feith, former deputy assistant secretary of state in the East Asia bureau, “The story of why parts of the U.S. government were not as curious as many of us think they should have been is a hugely important one.”

How did a novel bat coronavirus get to a major metropolis of 11 million people in central China, in the dead of winter when most bats were hibernating, and turn a market where bats weren’t sold into the epicenter of an outbreak?

We just hit 600,000 confirmed deaths in the US, with the actual number likely to be 2.5-3 times than.

That’s a nice summary. All of this has been known for months, it has even been posted in this thread. Unfortunately nothing will ever come out of this.

is it though? maybe they just thought it was ridiculous.

It is the left and right wing nuts and suppressionists who have cause this story to be buried and/or corrupted.

The science has been ignored or hidden.
There is a massive credibility gap isn't there?

Douglas Murray, sums it up accurately:
QUOTE
Last week there was another major anti-lockdown protest in London. As usual, it was by most of the media, and its participants were derided by commentators who prefer their rule-breakers to be violent and thuggish rather than peaceful and generally good-natured.

It is very easy to dismiss such people. But the well of suspicion of authority that they draw upon has just received an unprecedented boost.

I am not sure that many people have yet grasped the significance of a shift in the official narrative that has occurred in recent weeks. A shift so profound and far-reaching in its consequences that its repercussions may be felt for years to come.

I refer of course to the shift in the story about where the Covid virus came from. Since the beginning of the pandemic many of us have been of the view that it was strange that the virus should have originated from the province where the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) happens to have a laboratory looking into precisely such viruses.

My own such feelings were bolstered by a conversation I had just before the first lockdown with a US official who had recently been in a position of prominence and who commented that the Wuhan lab would be an obvious place for such a virus to emerge.

In the year that followed there were many senior figures from the worlds of intelligence, science and politics who felt the same thing. Last year, members of the Five Eyes intelligence sharing network said that they suspected that the virus had come from a laboratory and not – as the CCP wished everyone to believe – from a Chinese wet market.

Yet much of the media and, more importantly, the social media companies that now decide what we can all know, say and do, decided that they knew better. Facebook, Twitter and other companies decided to either “flag” or bar content that suggested that the Covid virus had originated in a laboratory.

The tech overlords love to flex their muscles on such occasions. Just as they decided before the last election that America’s oldest newspaper – The New York Post – should not be allowed to run a major story about Joe Biden’s family, so the kidults in Silicon Valley decided that they knew best about Wuhan wet markets and virus origins.

The same thing happened with views that were anti-lockdown. As the Telegraph reported last year, interviews with major scientists such as the former WHO adviser Professor Karol Sikora were taken down by YouTube as soon as they were posted online. Anyone who questioned the received narrative was virtually disappeared. The public were only allowed to be told one version of one story. And that whole narrative began with the assertion that the virus was the result of an accident in a Wuhan wet market.

Well, now the story has changed completely. An increasingly incontrovertible pile of evidence has come to light that suggests that the lab leak theory is indeed the correct one.

The turnaround comes in part from the CCP’s own attempts at covering its tracks. In February of this year, officials from the WHO were given a carefully curated tour by the Chinese authorities that was meant to conclude what the CCP wanted them to conclude: that there was no evidence of the virus coming from the laboratory at Wuhan. But the press conference was hijacked by the CCP’s spokespeople, and even the WHO was brave enough afterwards to dissent from the conclusions forced upon them. The CCP’s behaviour could not have been more suspicious if it had tried.

In the weeks since then, a growing number of experts have begun to highlight elements of the virus which point to the lab leak theory. And there has been a turnaround in those portions of the media which have spent the past year pouring scorn on the same claims. One of those in the firing line is America’s Dr Anthony Fauci, a trove of whose emails have recently been released. In them he can be found early on in the pandemic accepting credit for having helped to quash the lab leak theory.

In part, this was all just one more political casualty of the partisanship of everything that happened during the presidency of Donald Trump. Because Trump himself was not averse to the lab leak theory, there was a special premium for his opponents in promoting the wet-market explanation. It allowed them to say that the president was spreading another dangerous conspiracy theory.

The investigation into how the virus came out was already hampered by the fact that the CCP was doing everything it could to interfere with the rest of the world’s efforts to explore what really happened. And then there was this additional layer of obstacles to the truth provided by the most powerful country in the world fighting the virus-origin story, like everything else, through the lens of whether you were pro or anti Donald Trump.

No wonder we are all these months on and still so very far away from knowing everything we should know by now. The CCP hampered us. And then the free societies of the world hobbled themselves.

Papers and media companies that previously dismissed the lab-leak theory have spent recent days quietly editing some of their own past content. But they are fooling no one but themselves if they think that they can get away with rewriting the past. The CCP might have the power and malevolence to play the cover-up game. But the companies and institutions in the West who ordered the public to believe one thing and are now accepting another will have a much harder time of it.

We have lived through an unprecedented period. One in which our freedoms have been curtailed like never before. Such a period makes people ripe for and receptive to conspiracy theories. But to grasp the full fracturing nature of what has just occurred we must consider the fact that one of the things that we have spent the past year being stopped from knowing is a thing that turns out most likely to have been true.
UNQOUTE

And by the way there was over 700,000 in London on the anti-lockdown demonstration in London last week. Barely a peep in the MSM.

I read the Vanity Fair piece and that was still very much looking at this through the prism of President Donald Trump. Very little chance of holding China to account when you've created the biggest illegitimate bogeyman of all, uniquely evil and someone who must be constantly denigrated above all even the truth.

When President Trump said the virus came from the lab, but he couldn't reveal the sources, it was clear this was from the intelligence services. When Five Eyes told us, dude, you cannot seriously have considered the mainstream narrative as having a shred of truth about it.

MSM can’t block the signal. The truth is coming out and heads will roll. The woke scientists can’t hide the truth!

Several leading western scientists in this field signed a statement saying that gain of function research didn't exist, the virus could only have evolved in nature and they had zero conflicting interests. And yet they did as they were sponsoring research in Wuhan.

It's clear the field of virology is too dangerous to be left to scientists alone. We need ethical oversite and very strict legislation.

At the very least, media darlings like Dr Peter Daszak and Fauci & Co. must be held accountable for their nefarious activities and cover-ups.
