Coronavirus

Here we go again:

Headline:

Two million people in UK living with long Covid, find studies

3rd paragraph in:

Studies have suggested Covid may have a lingering impact [...]

Then:

[...] while research has suggested fewer than a third of patients who have ongoing Covid symptoms [...]

Then a little further down we have:

[...] The latest figure is a 10% rise on the number of people with long Covid reported last month, and is almost twice as high as the figure reported as of 2 May last year when just over 1 million people self-reported having long Covid.

“As a proportion of the UK population, the prevalence of self-reported long Covid was greatest in people aged 35 to 69 years, females, people living in more deprived areas, those working in social care, teaching and education or health care, and those with another activity-limiting health condition or disability,” the ONS added. [...]
Other examples are ''All the signs of...'', ''some experts say/agree...'', ''...could'', ''...worrying trend'', ''from the playbook of...'' There were lots of that with the phony Steele Dossier.
You have to be careful with British newspapers, because the writer of the article DOES NOT write the headline and the headline is often contradicting the article.

It basically acts as click-bait, and The Guardian are one of the worst offenders along with The Daily Mail.

This is now a part of the MSM business model.
The Daily Mail is annoying, as their often first in the news cycle, so you can't avoid going there for breaking click bait news.

You lost me at "The Guardian"

GOD I WISH!

I agree and I‘m afraid it is similar in many other countries. The fact that this business model seems to be working imho shows a devastating decrease in reading comprehension. People read the headline and the teaser and do not notice (or else do not care?) that the article itself does not confirm and in the worst cases even contradicts the headline.
It’s the same here as well. The New York Times and cnn are notorious for doing this bullshit. Silent retractions and edits as well.

Florida. At the forefront of political discourse and coronavirus freedoms.

I thought commenting on other countries’ politics was a no no in your book.
Rambo, naming Zinn as a historian he reads, and presumably admires, goes someway in explaining Rambo's Manichean like world view.

And, I speak, as someone familiar with the work of Zinn, and he confrères Chomsky and Said.

Other than that, I have no idea what the fuck you are talking about

The book is about America. You are not American. You gave me condescending shit when I spoke about Britain without being British. Ring a bell?

I'm referring to Zinn the person, the historian, I didn't comment on the book's subject matter. Zinn wrote many books on many different topics as well as being a socialist.

Again, what the fuck are you talking about.

About how full of condescending nonsense you generally are.

It is always wise to get your facts straight before you start to accuse people of things they haven't done.

As for your accusation of me condescending to you. Guilty as fucking charged, and the reason I condescend to you is simple: I consider you an arrogant, loud-mouthed, ill-tempered, thin-skinned oaf. And they're just your plus points!

I can just imagine you strutting around the office, a flat-pack generalissimo, screaming at anyone who has the temerity to disagree with you and calling them a twat. Dishing it out whilst being unable to take it.

God help anyone who has to work with you.

Now fuck off!

Ignored.

As a former McPoser, I‘m sure he’s pleasant to work with. Though it’s also sure he’s not familiar with the concept of „getting facts straight“

i'll be completely honest here and admit that I've never even seen the word Manichean used much less knew what it means. but now that i do i can't possibly imagine why on earth you think my views boil down to black and white. its a little insane.

Well, I'm not going to trawl through old posts, but the next time you engage in it, I'll point it out to you.

In the meantime, here is a Leftist critique of some of the problems with Zinn's approach to history.

i never said he was my north star. you asked if i knew history and i responded with howard zinn. i was fucking with you.

Sure, sure.
It's actually a funny story that you may even know about, depending on how well connected you were to other parts of the firm. Good times!

I noticed you removed the reference to your unfinished phd from your linkedin, that wasn't the outcome I expected.
