Disagreeable Menswear Post Of The Day

Hey, look at what l found guys. The pic!!! This photo is so awesome. They all have cigars, and they all used that plastic lighter. Why? Because it is the first time they have ever done this kind of thing.
Boater hat man 3.jpeg

One of the memorable outifts from earlier. Bought everything cheap off the ebay and decided to play dressups at Pitti. No-one in the whole world would ever dress like that. Awful colour combining.

One of my favourites ever was the man dressed in a nice suit with boater hat on his head while smoking a cigar, but he was carrying a plastic bic lighter. Remember that?
IIRC there was a ‘Mr Claymore’ used to post on SF a long time ago but haven’t seen him post in ages. I think that was the name of his (now closed) menswear shop in Chicago or Detroit. Don’t think he’s any relation to your dude.

As for the pic above, reminds me of an SF poster named ‘Label King’ from years back who also used to dress as if he’d just gone berserk in some 1970s resale charity shop but the SF intelligentsia were always fawning over him to my eternal puzzlement.

Mr Claymore used to post on S.F, probably the same bloke.

So...what do you think of Mr Claymore snarky? I bet you have never seen anyone like that in the real world. :lol

The forums do pump up mediocre people like they are amazing, it really is quite odd. Lots of hype and buzz over nothing.

Mr Claymore is quite a unique bloke, but it is good that he is into clothes and doesn't give a rat's backside what anyone thinks. He seems like a friendly fellow who doesn't take himself too seriously, and he is mates with ole Crusty. Mr Claymore seems like a good bloke, but he is very different from your average guy. If anyone can pull off the full-on outfits he wears, it is Mr Claymore. He is a social butterfly and seems to embrace his style with confidence. Have never met him in my entire life, but that is the impression he gives. What l want to know is...does he still attend Pitti or is he out of the clothing trade?

I re,member one photo of ole Claymore leaving a restaurant. You should have seen the outfit; full on luxury fur coat, a grand looking hat, gloves in pocket, umbrella, three piece suit...the works. His look was so over the top that l have never forgotten it; but this is not just dressups for him, it is who he is. It is why l remember Mr Claymore so vividly. Wish l had saved the photo.

Can someone please explain something to me. Andy and his wife are not in the clothing trade, right? It is true that only the industry people get to go inside and attend these balls etc? If true, does this mean that Andy hangs around outside with the rest of them while the inner circles get special access? Or is the masked event open to all? I ask this because Andy looks smartly dressed, so shouldn't he be where all the important people are? I couldn't imagine him just settling for being outside with all the nobody wannabees.

that party was organized I think by some sartorial club one of these civilians started. I think the woman who lives in Amsterdam?

Our mate had a new bespoke top hat made, a proper one too. Might look good on some men, but not so much on our mate. It is a very full on hat.

Top hats, emblematic of formal wear from the late 18th century into the early 20th century, were primarily worn outdoors as part of a gentleman's ensemble for occasions that required formal attire. Indoors, it was customary for gentlemen to remove their hats as a sign of respect and etiquette. This practice applied not just to top hats but to hats in general, in line with social norms and manners of the time. In formal indoor settings, such as dining rooms or social gatherings, continuing to wear a hat could be seen as impolite or disrespectful.

🤡

It’s not just the cosplaying of it - even if the attire fit right (it doesn’t) and looked good (it doesn’t), it’s completely out of place in the environment he’s wearing it.
Even the pipe is ridiculously out of place - where in the world is it socially ok now to smoke a pipe indoors, other than a smoking den or similar??

Reminds me of Andy P in full black tie at that cruise with his family where everyone else is wearing sweatpants and Disney hoodies

Spot on. Part of being well dressed is being dressed appropriately for the occasion / environment. That becomes more difficult / complex these days if you still persevere in trying to dress ‘well’ in some form while the world around us descends to ever more casual levels.

Still - if your reaction is to manifest your distaste for casual clothes by dressing like Napoleon or some Dickensian villain then something has gone seriously amiss somewhere. It’s not the answer. And it looks ridiculous.

And even if you are said Dickensian villain, if you are indoors, for the love of god, take your fucking hat off!!

The problem is that there are no cloakrooms anymore, so where does one put his hat?

I understand that Tibor does numerous things these days. He sometimes works as a door greeter at clubs, but he also dabbles a bit in having hats made for people at very expensive prices. Probably does a bunch of things.

Good to hear that Tibor is making a few bob out of this. Could that have been his intention from day one?

All the above is true

However given my observations of what men are wearing these days in most places I infest - I'm wondering if I should perhaps be starting up a GOFUNDME page to help old mate Tibor - at least he looks as if he might care.

Tibor may not dress right for the environment, but at least he is better dressed than most men out there. I'd rather see a bloke in a top hat than a bloke in sneakers, daggy jeans and a sloppy tshirt.

Not might care, he DOES care.

I love the crack and meth smoke on that pic.

lolwut?
Quite ridiculous, isn't it?

It's a long while back now but I recall when Liverano ask was half that and there was uproar and justifiably so. I recall the demand was far outstripping supply which I though was codswallop but even accounting for inflation, it seems that it was.

He’s pricing himself 1.2-1.5x above Savile Row, and 3-4x Napoli and Sicily. Humble man.
