I was stuck watching Wayne's World over the weekend. I was reminded what a bizarrely dated wardrobe Rob Lowe's character has throughout the film. He has a few two 2x1 DB suits, one with ultra-low gorged notcg lapels. All the clothing is baggy as can be and the pants feature many pleats. Giant and large pockets are seen on several shirts worn with a tie.

Interestingly, the head villain, the show's sponsor, dresses great. He has classically proportioned and well fitting suits in dark colors, mostly pinstripes with expert pattern matching at the color/lapel. He employs pocket squares tastefully.

Of course I can't find an example now, but I noticed this on a few suits worn by the lead in Castle. It's almost non-existent in RTW, so it makes me wonder how much custom stuff is done for the screen.

Let's try current. Person of Interest
John Reese wears this igent-unapproved black suit all the time. The shirt has a placket, which Sartodinapoli hates. The collars stay miraculously contained, making me suspect a hidden button down.

More igent in many ways is Finch of the same show. More country, more patterns, more texture, more details.

There are references to Finch having Reese's suits made by some exclusive Italian tailor (Gianni?) despite looking bland as can be.
Finch has awesome overcoats too.

I'll see if I can dig up photos, but Dick Van Dyke shows the awesomeness of the ascot in both Mary Poppins and Shitty Shitty Gang Bang.

So what is with Jed Clampett's collar? Is he wearing a detachable collar shirt with no collar? Is that some sort of stud fastening the collar band?
