needing a new down comforter/ duvet/ doona and looking for recommendations. Thanks!

^Thank you for this.

I have been using shitty microfiber duvet covers and sheets and was looking to upgrade. Was on the verge of going with Boll and Branch or Brooklinen (I buy into the whole direct manufacturer-to-consumer model), until I saw this.

Any recommendations for inexpensive duvets? My queen size one is barely adequately covering my 12" memory foam mattress.

i posted a link for comforters above. size up to king ( i prefer to have the extra size personally)

Pottery Barn sheets are surprisingly good, and you can catch them on sale all the damn time.

I've completely given up on Costco sheets and towels. The quality has gone completely to shit over the past few years.

The best towels ever are the ones by nordstrom, so expensive though.

I have always been amused that forumites spend a fortune on their rags and hooves but their homes - or in this case beds - is being furnished on the cheapo.

In my teens i spent a summer in Abruzzi with this Scottish-Italian broad and spent a lot of time on a heavenly mattress and its bed accoutrements and after that i never looked back.

Without further ado, depending on your climate -for i will not go into budget per se as one should not cheap out on this as we spend arguably a third of our lives in bed.

Duvet - eschew synthetic crap. Be aware of tog ratings: 4.5 ( summer) - 13.5! The de luxe for the normal folk is 100% goose down ( well never more than 90% goose down to be more accurate even though it is market as 'goose dowm').
Siberian Goose down is essentially a myth but Canadian, Hungarian or any garden variety goose down will do. In decreasing level of comfort, praciticality and niceness as goose feather and down; duck feather etc all the way down the IKEA microfiber crap.

NB I had a silk duvet once - very nice but slimy and too louche for me. LKP LKP might like it though.

Important tip: Always buy a duvet size one up from your bed size e.g; single bed, double duvet cover; queen size bed, King duvet cover etc

You will be more comfortable, stylish and women would not want to leave your bed and when they do, they will return with their friends!

What if you have a super kingsize bed? There's no one size up!!

Bought a Costco Doona/comforter today. Good value and if it sucks we can return it.

It really depends on the rest of the room. I'd be very careful with those Persian style patterns though. If the rest of your room isn't sufficiently modern it'll give it an old lady vibe. Black and white Moroccan style rugs are a much safer choice.

Anyone have experience with LazyBoy or Relax The Back furniture or service?

I got a custom Harbor Town Reclina Rocker model in their top leather few years ago. Extremely comfortable but the automatic footrest stops short a couple inches now after trying to get out of the chair one night while fully elevated. Weight of my body pushed it down. Manual lift option would prevent that but there's only three footrest height settings, down, 45 angle and fully reclined and the shifting mechanism is ridiculously loud. Very happy with the leather which itself was worth the price imo despite mediocre engineering of the chair.
