Italian tailors and shirtmakers recommendation

Please move if I'm not posting this in the right section of the forum.

I'm going to be spending the next 5 months in Rome for work. While I'm there, I would like to experience first hand Italian tailoring. Does anyone have good recommendations? Ideally, I'd like to have a suit made (I don't need big names if you know a great local tailor) and some shirts. I'm mobile and can drive to cities in the vicinity (or Milan, if the recommendation is that good).

Thank you!

These are my preferred ones - I’ve worked with them and appreciate how their work fits me. YMMV, and everyone has their own opinion.

For suits:
- Antonio Panico
- Gennaro Paone
- Cristina Dalcuore

For shirts:
- Golia Camicie

For trousers:
- Cerrato

It's the second time Panico comes recommended. Can I ask you what he did for you? I'm curious about his house style and what you would recommend to get from him.

What sort of style are you looking at, obviously a big difference between Naples and Milan. Rome being somewhere in the middle usually

I’ve posted examples before (and you can look at my IG for some examples). His soft jackets are absolutely superb in my opinion, as are his coats.
I’ve heard he is semi-retired now, with his son doing the bulk of the work and the old man showing up and supervising.
If you want a suit, get the whole thing from him. If you want separates, you could always get the jacket(s) from him and the trousers from someone like Cerrato or Ambrosi.

In all honesty I am a bit new to the whole Italian style and its variations so I'm open. My suits are mostly English cut and I'm looking to move a bit away from it. My understanding is that Milan is much closer to England so I might want to avoid it. I like the distinctive shoulder style of Naples. I have a meeting with Sartoria Gallo to discuss Roman style while I'm there too.

I did some creepin' and I do like the jackets you have posted. I would definitely go for a suit in this case.

I have an appointment this week with Antonio Panico and Cerrato. I might just do a walk in at Golia. Thanks for all the great rec.

excellent choices.
Please Let me know about the experience with Panico. Curious to know how much of the work is done by the son v the father.
Also Happy to drop a line to Cerrato and Golia if you send me your name via dm.

wonderful to hear. we'd all love to hear about your journey and how it goes.
I'll keep you all appraised with pictures. I got shirts commissioned from Jaha in Rome too, and a suit from Sartoria Gallo in Rome as well. I might be having a ''kid in a candy store moment'' coming from a province with little in terms of tailors (save for shirts).

you should touch base with DW's resident shirtmaker Sartodi Napoli Sartodi Napoli . He does ties too.
