Ivy in TV or Movies

Chappaquiddick - not a new film (2017) but available on BBC I-player or Netflix and new to me. Dealing with one of the Kennedys, as you might expect, a certain amount of Ivy clothing crops up in the film. Most of it centres around events on Chappaquiddick Island, that car crash and the damning moment of Edward Kennedy’s political career. The lead character is well portrayed and dressed in off duty senator gear, blazer, polo shirt and chinos featuring heavily. I make no comment on the accuracy of the film, but one moment you felt sorry for him as he wanted to do the right thing, the next minute he’s a complete shit contemplating a cover up to save his own skin.

I haven't, but I find it increasingly difficult to filter out the noise and plethora of mini-series and what looks like complete dross. So I tend to stick with what I already know or documentaries. Which is not a good thing, there's only so many times you can re-watch Casino, Goodfellas, WWII in Color and the last word in Ted Bundy documentaries.

Looks good. Well put together trailer and music. Tempting.
 
I've actually been on a dry spell for period pieces which are my mainstays. But I do love a good Ivy wardrobe.

Fucking hell. You’ve just word for word summarized my own feelings right there. Well done!

I did see Chappaquiddick and thought it was well done. I then read the book it was based on and decided the film did a decent job of illustrating the book.

That largely sums up my own reaction too.

Back on topic. Saw ‘Rome Adventure’ recently with Troy Donohue, Suzanne Pleshette and Hampton Fancher. Lots of Ivy gear on display by both of the guys. Fancher went on to be a screenwriter and wrote the script for a Bladerunner and the sequel.

More preppy: Chris Frantz had the Izod New York art rock look even at the time of Stop Making Sense. Byrne borrowed it too for the Old Grey Whistle Test session and some of the 80s videos. The Heads were vanguards of that saturated video style, all preppy colour schemes. Fantastic at the time and still with us in the RL and Lacoste polo shirt colour ranges.
