I haven't, but I find it increasingly difficult to filter out the noise and plethora of mini-series and what looks like complete dross. So I tend to stick with what I already know or documentaries. Which is not a good thing, there's only so many times you can re-watch Casino, Goodfellas, WWII in Color and the last word in Ted Bundy documentaries.Seen some good Ivy clothing in a film or on TV lately?
Chappaquiddick - not a new film (2017) but available on BBC I-player or Netflix and new to me. Dealing with one of the Kennedys, as you might expect, a certain amount of Ivy clothing crops up in the film. Most of it centres around events on Chappaquiddick Island, that car crash and the damning moment of Edward Kennedy’s political career. The lead character is well portrayed and dressed in off duty senator gear, blazer, polo shirt and chinos featuring heavily. I make no comment on the accuracy of the film, but one moment you felt sorry for him as he wanted to do the right thing, the next minute he’s a complete shit contemplating a cover up to save his own skin.
Fucking hell. You’ve just word for word summarized my own feelings right there. More preppy: Chris Frantz had the Izod New York art rock look even at the time of Stop Making Sense. Byrne borrowed it too for the Old Grey Whistle Test session and some of the 80s videos. The Heads were vanguards of that saturated video style, all preppy colour schemes. Fantastic at the time and still with us in the RL and Lacoste polo shirt colour ranges.New wave bands like Blondie or Talking Heads, lots of jackets, shirts and ties, there must be some Ivy there surely.
