Haven't been there in awhile, thx for reminder! Where I first learned of Hat People in Oregon, even met the eccentric owner.

Three buttons to half belt is strange?

Huge lapels appears post 1930's to me? Too modern believe so.

Prefer straight pockets and no epaulets.

Must view my recent greatcoat purchase in proper thread, very pre-war design.

Prefer 8 or 4 buttons to body, 6 is better for jackets.

Here is a pre 1900s greatcoat. I don't think you know what a greatcoat is. But that's ok nobody really knows about the differences between different types of coats.

Notice pre-war great coat with large lapel but much higher buttoning stance. Crucial difference.

Same with jackets, more hard 3s and higher stances in general frowned upon by igents today.

@LeleanJ - how do you describe (to me) in words what the look is you are going for?

What I would like to understand is how you expect to achieve this look in RTW clothes made in the type of super fabrics, luxury fabrics, and exotics that you seem to prefer and that have absolutely nothing to do with pre war clothes.

There are some designers who copy more esoteric pre-war designs like GBS, Forme, former Ann D, Harnden, 08 Sircus although they sometimes add further non-historical embellishments which negate authenticity.

There are some non-designer (cheaper) makers who offer authentic replicas but they usually sell out quickly and offer very small production runs by nature.

Takes much commitment, doesn't happen overnight, weeks, months, but years.

Pre-war gamut from classical to vernacular, same as my expertise in musicology.

your style of dress has more in common isis or at least the local shawarma boy than pre war fashion
