Mens sandals

I just ordered a new pair for by Reef for wearing around the pool. I lolled at the built-in bottle opener.

Yeah I had a pair back when they came out. Good thought but you gotta remember the bottle opener is getting smashed into every gross thing on the ground. Also, they have a bit of a hard spot in the sole flex.

They are the Mick Fanning model IIRC

I bought my first pair of sandals a month ago. I used it for half my stay in Italy. Mostly lounging in the villa and vineyard and Agriturismo tours in Umbria and Tuscany.

Thinking of buying another...

I don’t like open toe sandals other than for lounging in the garden. I have had a pair of close toed sandals of a similar type to those that have been posted here, but I found the thin leather soles to be quite unforgiving. The best ones I’ve had are these by Paraboot which are durable and comfortable to wear.

I’m thinking about buying some sandals or leather slip-ons and wearing dress shorts to the office this summer, so I’ll start following this thread.

Move to Bermuda if you want to do that.

I have a feeling the new office AC will be too cold for it, but I’m not ruling out going full Higgins for eccentric comfort in the heat.

If you sink that low, for the love of Christ and your dignity do NOT post pics!
You know I’m gonna spam you with these hairy legs.

And just be thankful it’s not my Stubbies (Aussie reference to tradesman’s short shorts there).

Here you go, get a pair of proper handmade sandals by Vass. Wear `em with knee high sox for the old aussie school teacher look with trouser shorts, belt, pajama collar shirt etc.

Might even get a pair of Vass myself.

See....those were the days when men were men. The men that made our country great all wore sandals, long sox, traditional shorts etc in hot weather; my teachers did it, my grandfathers did it etc. People say it is a geeky look, but nothing could be further from the truth. I say to these young insecure guys, own the look and be a proper man, it's all about the attitude. It is a proper menswear look that ticks all the boxes.

If you can be a proper man, you'll be alright. Let it all hang out and don't give a stuff. Just go about your business and get things done like men have always done.

i don't know shooey. might as well get a pith hat and go full colonial army officer.

if you show up anywhere looking like that you're likely to get mugged.

Was actually thinking about that look and the pith helmet. Could it work? In the Australian outback, yes. In the large Australian city tourist parks on a very hot day, maybe. In the city streets, NO! In the suburbs, NO. It can be done Rambo, but the circumstances must be right.

As one of the very few who is enthusiastic about sandals in warmer weather, even I won't wear it with 'dress shorts' to 'the office'.

All joking aside, I am thinking more along the lines of a slip on moccasin or penny loader, a dressier pair of shorts (single pleat and small cuff) with short sleeve or sleeves rolled to elbow, untucked button down or camp collar white linen shirt. Something I could get away with on casual Fridays or days when I don’t have any meetings.

In which city would this be deemed remotely appropriate for ‘office wear’?

Dinkelacker sandal.

Doesn't look like the proper handmade shoes.

Crompers pontificates on the rare elusive beauty of artisanal socks and sandals:

Simon is onto something here. Unless you are going to the beach or poolside, a man should be covering up his feet imo. No-one wants to see a bloke's feet. I have found that sox with sandals are a winner, but the sox need to be done right. Like Simon says, the sock needs to be subtle. A great combination for me at home is navy shorts, mauve socks with navy pindots, and brown sandals when the weather is really hot. Sandals with trousers is probably not so good, but l would do it on certain occasions because l don't give a stuff. Wearing sandals without sox around a non water setting is a big mistake imo...among the foulest looking clothing looks.

The sock bug has struck recently, again. Got some beauties from Corgi coming soon, and have got my eyes set on some really exciting possibilities from Kabbaz and William Abraham. When sox are done right there is nothing quite as satisfying when it comes to menswear, so sock purchases are always exciting. Sox are expensive, but it needs to be done right. No skimping. It is a love hate thing for me....hate the prices, love the satisfaction. Gallo has gone up $18 asd per pair over the past year, makes me wanna puke. Prices are getting really out of hand now. Kabbaz and William Abraham still have stable prices, so they'll get my business. Too many boring and ugly socks from https://meschaussettesrouges.com......such a pity, the prices are good.

The Shooman The Shooman , there is no doubt that Lattanzi makes some spectacular shoes, but he also has a large collection of particularly fugly models. This is what his website starts off with:

I also think the buried shoes look like they were found in a dumpster after having been abused by the previous owner.

It's also interesting that some of his boots resemble the US workboot models that you say look unsophisticated. Sorry but these cannot be defended:

I can get you a pair in the Moroccan market in Marrakesh for 25 dollars or less.
Ah, but are they patinated? I believe the latest trick is to put the leather in a bee hive and leave it for five years. Both leather and honey become impressively unique.

I think I am going to take my blow torch to my big Johnny lobbs to see if I can make a crispy patina!
