Rules of the game.

Post a still from a well known movie. If you can guess the previous still, you can post your own. No cheating (tracing the URL, imdb-ing the actor). If no one guesses within 24 hours, you post another.

I have poor knowledge of contemporary popular movies, so I'll stink this up. I think that's Woodrow Harrelson, so I'm guessing "Natural Born Killers."
Needless to say, I haven't seen it.

It's not much help even when you can see it.

I like this game though.

Just googled it. Sounds like a classic.

Edited to add -

This may be the best movie fact ever:
The film was made on the set of the TV series Hogan's Heroes.[1] The series had already been cancelled and the show's producers let the movie be made on it once they learned that a scene called for it to be burned down, saving them the cost of having it demolished.

Most of you guys are doing it right, but the key here involves walking a fine line. You don't want something so easy that anybody and their mom can guess, but you also don't want something so obscure that nobody has a god damned clue. Go for scenes that would jog someone's memory. And obviously memorable actors help, but aren't necessary with enough context.

Kentucky Fried Movie!

And yes, the Ilsa series is awesome.

This, though a great screen, is not a good example of what we want. Three cowboys riding horses against a Dakota landscape. That could be a lot of Westerns.

If you quote and image, there is a good chance the image will include a name. Also remember that the older a movie is, the more iconic it needs to be for some of us youngin's to be able to recognize it.

Or to have your movie title in the name of the image

It's not cheating. It's people posting life-of-brian.jpg that shows up when you quote the post.

:)

Also, I'm finally drawing a blank on a screen shot. I don't even recognize that actor.

I guarantee you know who it is, he just looks a bit different than usual in that shot (which is why I chose it).

Yeah The Searchers was on the tip of my tongue. I watched a lot of those westerns when I was about 10-12 and they're all a bit mixed up in my memory.

Dark City had such a fantastic fucking trailer. I remember seeing it during the previews before a movie (do they still have those? In Korea it's just 10 minutes of commercials). It's the first movie I remember thinking "Fuck...I HAVE to see that"

The Bodyguard
Annnndd aaaiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeiiiiiiiiIIIIII will allwaaaaaaayyysss loooovveee youuu!!!!

I'm calling out III right now. Nobody who knows that movie would ever fucking refer to it as "The Bodyguard." It's why I picked that still (the URL has a translated title that doesn't even appear on VHS or DVD copies)

:cerealguy:

Type in "Bodyguard" in Amazon, searching for DVD's, and Yojimbo doesn't even come up in the first three pages (stopped looking after that)

(Sorry, I take Kurosawa pretty seriously. Easily my favorite director).

Edit: On page 7 now. Still nothing. "Martin" season 7 somehow came up though. I have issues. Deep, deep seeded issues.

Well, I Googled Senor Pizza because I rally can't rememeber the title "Loverboy" but I've seen that flick a bunch for some reason

Boondock Saints

III , soz mate, shame them away.

Though I don't think Yojimbo is particularly obscure.

Which one? A Life Less Ordinary?

Ewan MacGregor, Cameron Diaz, Ian Holm, Stanley Tucci, Delroy Lindo, Holly Hunter, Dan Hedaya, and Tony Shalhoub man! One of my fav Danny Boyle movies, mostly because it's just kind of silly and Cameron Diaz can't sing for shit.

Pretty quotable, too.
Nah, the Pacino movie

Oh. Yeah, I assume that probably nobody but me saw that. I'm just testing that theory. It HAS been on tv recently though.

You DQing yourself from guessing?
Trying to stay true to the spirit of the contest

The Seventh Seal.

I have never seen it, but that still is famous enough for me to know anyway.
