If your nation decided, as has been done in the past, to bolster national unity by implementation of a grand uniform scheme for civilians, would you participate?
For the sake of argument, we'll assume that this would be like old miltary uniforms where one could have similar items made themselves of superior materials and construction as long as the general appearance was maintained.

Would anyone have recommendations for such uniforms?

Which countries implemented an optional national citizen uniform?

Wear mine pretty much every damned day. . .

But I think COG is angling for the ChiCom civilians wear Mao suits thingy. Not that you have a military uniform because of a military affiliation.

His angle is "I get up in the morning and put on the government-spec civvie suit"

Of course he wants us to believe that in that fantasy world we would be able to get such a uniform at Brooks, Suit Supply, Rubinacci and Savile Row, made of the finest tissues

Because democratic nations do this all the time, right?

"Mother of pearl buttons on my Mao jacket please Luigi"

Yup! I read a Fussell book that went over how while the US was enduring a depression, all the employed prosperous people in Germany wore some sort of uniform.
This book seems to agree.

Wikipedia notes that
In modern times, there are instances where traditional garments are required by sumptuary laws. In Bhutan, the traditional Tibetan-style clothing of gho and kera for men, kira and toego for women, must be worn by all citizens, including those not of Tibetan heritage. In Saudi Arabia, women are also required to wear the abaya in public.
So I'm grossly generalizing to say one national uniform, but a highly codified thing which would be essentially identical to those around you. Anyway, you don't necessarily get stuck with standard issue.

Officers bought their own clothing and would have items specially tailored to the regulation pattern but with a better fit and some personal "improvements". Individualistic (and wealthy) commanders like Patton or MacArthur were known for their vanity in this regard.

Seriously, you go to all this work because you want to dress like a Nazi, a Bhutanese or Jean-Luc Picard?

Dammit, this isn't about the Third Reich, although they did have awesome uniforms and it was presumably a great unifier. This is about expression and conformity.
I'm going to ignore Rambo's possible nod to Patton's views and just get back to a uniform, or even a rigid dress code.
Hypothetical law tomorrow mandates daily wear of a navy suit, white spread collar shirt and a red solid tie and black oxfords. Do you flee the country, risk imprisonment, make the most of it, or not even care. Is there an alternate uniform suggestion you'd prefer?

anyhow we all wear a sort of uniform in our daily wear that help us to identify us and our ranks but we do this because we want, in some of the examples mentioned the use of uniform is compulsory and subject to penalty if not used I can't image a Saudi woman in mini skirt....

I have extreme difficulty in distinguishing between frat boy, plumber, and web developer...or internet millionaire, so some tweaking is needed. In a way, the slovenly 'comfort' uniform may be too egalitarian.
I'd argue that well-clad fattie will look better that the fittest person in lumpen clothing.

It will be hard to establish a uniform for each country, because Western dress is quite similar and that leaves only a variation of colours to distinct between, lets say, a Brit, a German and/ or a Scandinavian person.
Perhaps it would be a solution to make wearing a national uniform mandatory when being outside of the home country.
For example, the way it's going right now, the US national uniform would be an ill fitting, rainbow coloured tank top, possibly combined with sweat pants.
They'll soon have a new flag:

Too abstract a concept. A uniform. Optional. I'll wear it if I like it and won't if I don't.

Although I think that LKP LKP would look good in his hand tailored black uniform when driving his Konzernprodukt, I don't think it would go down well in Rasha!

Nonesense! A hopsack natural shoulder, a lined spalla camicia, a worsted rope shoulder, and so on.
Although if Clinton's wife wins and the uniform is some drapey jute frock tunic pantsuit, I may opt out.

Whatever their many crimes and excesses, the Nazis did have some very sharp uniforms. How many of them may be credited to Hugo Boss, I don't know. C'mon now, how many sexual fetishists wear Mao jackets or ChiCom army uniforms for their role-play games?

If one eschews the necktie for a traditional autoerotic asphyxiation scaffold contraption, a mandarin collar is highly facilitative to ejaculatory fulfillment.
