News about HM The King and the monarchy

It's my first day because I didn't have a 4 day holiday.

You'd approve of my daughter little Ms F. who's just informed me, upon hearing celebratory fireworks outside, that she's tired of this Jubilee shit...!!!!

Made me chuckle...
Interestingly, my mother hasn't watched any of it. She's a republican at heart. But it takes a few things off the discussion table when I FaceTime her.

My daughter is going through what I call the Wednesday Adams phase...

Only in Britain could people whinge about getting 2 days paid holiday...screaming and moaning about at a nonagenarian who has no bearing on their life.

Modernise Prince of Wales.
It's not a good look is it, carrying 500 pound notes from Fortnum & Mason in carrier bags.

Whether the payments were legal is irrelevant, it's a question of ethics and self-respect. Or is he just another royal gun for hire, like his brother?

"They wanted to get away from the suffocation of royal life, but their royal links are their most bankable assets. It's like old rockers not wanting to talk about their early records, when that's the only reason people are interested. They also wanted to escape media intrusion and they have in effect become part of the media, with deals with Spotify and Netflix."

Hypocrisy.

  • said Archie is taught the importance of manners, with the phrase "manners make the man" often repeated
  • ...
  • divulged that she packed up their belongings at Frogmore Cottage, Windsor, while visiting for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee
Manners may make the man, but so does a sense of duty, loyalty and decency that is not always about you and yourself. That's why it's called public service.

Their whinging would have more credibilty if they actually did avoid publicity instead of courting it.

The Smiths may finally get a number one hit song.

I vote for the thread to be closed.

The sordid tales of King Charles' reign and his sycophant courtiers can be accounted for elsewhere

The closest she came to putting a foot wrong was her initial response to Princess Diana’s death, apart from that it was a flawless performance for seven decades. Prince Charles ought to do well, after all he’s had long enough to get ready for the job, but he has a long history of own goals to get over.

Saint or not, she held it all together and with the Commonwealth maintained cordial relationships with the ex-Empire. Indeed, several countries not part of the Empire joined. It's that good.
I think you are conflating several issues and being unnecessarily and jingoistically defensive.

I am not condemning the Queen and she lead a life worth living. My truck was with the statement below and the rank hypocrisy of it all. Queen/King/ Non-binary royal, don't have strong feelings about any of it.

Understand that was based on protocol, but fashion changes and Blair was right to intervene to get the flag flown at half-mast.

I was hoping Charles would have taken up the title of King George VII. He has full right to choose that title. King George VII sounds much more King like and traditional than King Charles III.

If l was the King i'd want to be called George VII. Actually, I wish l was the King....have wanted to be the King ever since l was a little kid.

Actually, the highest honor humans can get is said to be the Emperor. An Emperor is supposed to be higher than a King. Countries with Kings and Emperors are very special countries imo, they have heaven's mandate. The divine right of Kings etc.

But she looked fine with Liz Truss earlier.

The last photo of the Queen ever taken. She looked so well. I love that photo because of the blazing fire in the background. This is important to note, because many photos in recent years had that fireplace filled in with an electric heater, but for the first time in years the open fire was back. 😍 AND next to the fire was a stack of wood. See, as l see it, the Queen was taking it easy and relaxing more, hence the fire. Usually she'd be busy working in her office at Balmoral and no time to spend by the fire, hence just a normal electric heater to put on when she spent time in that room.

Glad the Queen spend her final days at Balmoral. Must have been great living there in the highlands with moose heads everywhere on the walls and tarten carpets while living away from prying eyes. She owned great cashmere cardigans too, and her skirts were made from the best Scottish tweeds also.

you people are so fucking diseased

'Telling the bees' goes back to at least the middle ages. You tell the bees of important events, including births, marriages and deaths or they will be upset and cause harm.
