ESPN is in a PC cleansing period. They were "locked in contract struggle" with Bill Simmons as well.
I think ESPN is in a bottom line cleansing period. They whacking salary everywhere.
I don't think so. They're a cash cow. It's a social cleansing. Controversy hurts the bottom line than a few big salaries.
Apparently you aren't familiar with ESPN's business model. The entire point is controversy. That's the exact thing that drives their bottom line. They are going to hire younger, cheaper people who are going to say even more outrageous things than the ones who are leaving.
Just look at what they have done to Jaworski. He used to be relatively normal.
I wonder what Tebow thinks about this?
ESPN Tightens Its Belt as Pressure on It Mounts - WSJSimmons got it because he criticized the NFL and accurately called Goodell a liar in public. Olberman similar circumstances. They both hurt the sponsors/leagues. I guess I should be more specific, because it's true, they want controversy, just not anything controversial to their pimps.
