We're Turning The Planet's To Shit: Climate Change & Humanity's Ability To Ruin Anything Good

its really depressing how we treat this planet like a dump

“China is promoting coal-fired power as the ruling Communist Party tries to revive a sluggish economy, prompting warnings Beijing is setting back efforts to cut climate-changing carbon emissions from the biggest global source.”

At least rebrand it clean coal.

Climate change=subsidies for wind farms. The first allegedly non-subsidized wind farm is coming online off the Dutch coast. We'll see how that translates into cheaper electricity prices.

Meanwhile, my mission: save the oceans from plastics and enrich the soils continues...

What happens in India doesn't stay in India. Why this deadly heat wave has a wide reach

"This heat wave is quite unusual. March has been the hottest in 122 years, pretty much the hottest year ever since we began recording temperatures,"

"Heat waves are common in India, but never so early. Then, heat waves are [normally] localized, but this time, it is widespread almost all across [the country]."

"The thing to notice is that if you look at the Middle East, Mediterranean region, that has warmed a lot since about 1990. And that wind that blows from that direction over to India, is now warmer by a lot."

"The other thing that's playing into this is that the Arctic has been much warmer than normal. So when that happens, we also get some forces from the Arctic coming south-eastward into Pakistan and India,"

Maybe you lot should stop burning coal. Or let's just fire off some ICBMs with nuclear warheads and be done with it.

But the accurate record only goes back 150 years at most, if that.

We have been living in an era, give or take the medieval cold period of climate change and shrinking ice caps for the last 10,000 years.

Climate change is not only inevitable, it is cyclical. But I hear they're going to re-brand ''Climate Change'', already ''Climate Emergency'' to ''Climate Catastrophe'' encompassing everything from earthquakes to volcano eruptions. In the new paradigm, there can be no natural disasters, it must all be man made.

Dude, have you forgotten to take your meds today? You’re on a roll of craziness across all threads. Dial it down a bit will you, please?

"In February, researchers concluded that the drought in the US southwest is the worst it has been in at least a millennium.

Not all droughts are due to climate change, but excess heat in the atmosphere is drawing more moisture out of the earth and making droughts worse.

The world has already warmed by about 1.2C since since the industrial era began and temperatures will keep rising unless governments around the world make steep cuts to emissions."

Drought or climate change or both...good for cold cases.

This is utter shite: “Only the colonial mindset of political leaders in rich countries can make the brutal calculation that the interest of fossil fuel giants and their billions in profit is more important than the lives of people who are overwhelmingly black, brown and poor.” No, only the colonial mindset can take the brutal position that black, brown and poor people, cannot have the wealth and lifestyle that cheap and abundant oil & gas energy and petro-chemical products have given us in the West. And nor are those countries idly sitting back to remain poor and undeveloped down in the dirt which is what Net Zero means for them.

From this in The Guardian:

Meanwhile, I was at the World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition on Tuesday. We won't be delivered to the hydrogen energy economy without the design, engineering and process might of the major oil & gas majors, who are, as you can guess, leading the charge. Still early days, most of the projects are in the proposal stage, but the EU and Dutch government's plan is to turn the Port of Rotterdam into the EU's hydrogen hub for production, delivery and transport to the rest of Europe.
