Pocket Square in Overcoat Pocket: Have you, would you, should you?

Came across these Apparel Arts drawings and wondered, does anyone wear a pocket square in their overcoat breast pocket? Or would you? Or should you? Does it seem affected to add a square.

I have included some contemporary photos as well as the alternative iGent affectation of using gloves in a breast pocket instead of a square.

So, should the breast pocket of the overcoat be free and clear of a square?

Somthing that can pass as a functional handkerchief is okay. Straight fold or some other unaffected thing. But really, it's about as bad as the twats trying to wear vests sans coats with pocket squares.
My dressiest overcoat has the flapped chest pocket due to tailoring confusion...

This glove stuff, again if it looks natural and not poncy, maybe.

I love pocket squares--I've got about a hundred of them--but putting one in an overcoat pocket seems like a bit too much, even for me.

I have never done it and despite the historical provenance I doubt i will. It is a rare event even in the Apparel Arts drawings. I think it can and does look good. Maybe I'll try it just to see what kind of stares I get.

I'd say it works if you are wearing the coat in lieu of a jacket. If there is a jacket under the coat, the PS should be in that pocket.

Then the counter argument would be that you couldn't see the pocket square under the overcoat.

Wouldn't the simplist answer be if your overcoat has a pocket then the option exists for using a pochette just as one would with an odd/suit jacket?

I suppose it all comes down to how each of us perceive how dandified or over-the-top it would be.

In my little world I rarely see a pocket square used at all except by one of my colleagues and the guy looking back at me on the other side of the mirror

In NYC, no one would even blink

A proper iGent employs the Ukrainian handkerchief technique. Place thumb on one nostril and blow through the other. Repeat on the contralateral side

storing gloves while i dont wear them because thr other pockets are full of stuff - ok

pocket square - no fucking way
