Random Questions & Thoughts

you check out Garcia Nevett in Miami? Online ordering.
no never heard of them. you had their stuff before?

almost all the places i've been looking at have online ordering, which is fine. just don't know any of them from adam.

It's a box of chocolate. She isn't gonna eat the entire thing. Overthinking!

I might well be wrong, but I’ve always assumed that women receiving gift chocolates are as much impressed by the presentation and packaging as the stuff inside. GP needs to find something that looks suitable as well as tastes good.

Plus, maybe she is hot.

It’s the thought that counts baby.

I know that but locally the options are basical sub-par. You think I’d be bothering to ask and not have even bothered looking around locally?

Where? Is there a chocolate forum? I need the inside scoop!
Miami media. National media. trip advisor, Yelp, Chocolate ranking sites. I was just trying to find you something close to home.

Chocolate ranking sites
oooh, which sites are these? all i ended up with was review sites like wirecutter and consumer reports when i searched for 'best boxed chocolates'.

I was just trying to find you something close to home.
i appreciate that. the reality is that i'm going to have to ship it anyway, since this place is way over an hour away and its $12 to ship from them vs. 15-20 from some national or international brands. so at this point i might as well go for the best of the best.

but no vosges. too weird.

Free chocolate is always good, even if it is mass produced. I don't think you need to overthink it.

I feel like the last person picked on the team. I have never heard of Whitman's.
well, in today's first moment of joy for me, i get to introduce you to a world of pain:

What does 'dinner daddy' mean to you? What age is too old for a woman to be using the term?

A chick who meets and agrees to go to dinner with dudes. She gets free meals. Dude gets to pay and a good night hug.

In my opinion, 24/25 should be the limit.

Woman with sunglasses. Brownish tint. Faux fur. Deeper voice that comes with experience. Reckon early 30s and I am being generous. Arguing with some bloke at a chain pub that she could get a dinner daddy any time because he didn't exhibit or show x y or z.

Maybe she is trying to hide the bruises or bags under her eyes.

That's what I meant. The dude is the daddy. The chick exploits it.

But the cut off point for said chicks must surely be 35. I can't see this being viable in your 40s because then you veer into senior citizen companionship.

You asked what age is too old. My opinion is 24/25.

Women older definitely still go that route. 40's? Definitely. Some women are probably just doing it for a few meals every week at a nice restaurant. So they don't mind a $125 meal/2x week.

Some of those 25 year olds have learnt to prey like gypsies. But I guess people will do what they need to do for free food even amongst insufferable company.

Yep...and gotta remember...a free meal can lead to a free diamond necklace or money for rent, etc.

Are we offering Fwiffs career advise now or more tips for picking up middle class hookers?

I'm not sure I received much of the former here other than comisserations (Doghouse).

Unless you count people (guero) posing existential questions as to why I continue to toil away at a profession I have no passion for simply because the money is relatively easy as it provides a service (menace in Rambo terms) to society. Maybe fxh And Thruth were trying to share sometimes you're c suite, sometimes you're board, sometimes you're just some advisor bloke and that's the journey of a professional. I assume that's unless I auction/mortgage/sacrifice my firstborn child/left kidney/what's remaining of my morality to keep at the top.

Marc Anthony concert down the street from me tonight.

So many menopausal women getting off the train.

Yesterday I bumped into someone I knew from my firm at the cocktail reception and he said "get in there, mingle and socialise. That's what you're good at."

Afterwards the executive admin was getting requests I needed to be seated at their table for the corporate Christmas party.

Wondering if I should take my parents out for one of those Christmas Eve/Day/Boxing Day dinners... Compared with I can cook better myself than some random holiday brunch buffet.

Stay home and cook.

I was going to take them to the local Fairmont hotel. They have a tree, special menus, and other festive decorations. Admittedly the last two times I was able to do this with them during coronavirus we were disappointed by the food, service or both and it was grossly expensive.

Due to their old age, buffets are utterly useless. The other thing was to try the Don Alfonso here which recently got awarded a michelin star but it looks like it's booked till January now.

I can cook better than the average $20/hr line cook but it's also about ambience and I don't know how many years are left.

Does anyone still take sick days? Pre-pandemic, I remember people just calling in sick and not working until they felt better. Now they send an email that they will be working from home due to illness.

At our company they got renamed Wellness Days so you can use it to take care of family members too.

I've never used one but at individual contributor levels I heard people exhausted their usage of them. Sometimes it's legitimate. Sometimes supervisors think it's dodging work.

I can’t remember how many sick days I earn each month - it’s a ridiculous amount, given that I never use them. Good for long term paid leave for a serious illness, I guess.

We’ve always been able to use sick days to take care of sick immediate family members.

There are no sick days here. Pretty much the only limit I‘m aware of is that your regular salary continues for at most six weeks, after which your insurance pays you (which might be lot less than your salary). There is a limited number of sick days you can take for when your kids are sick, but for yourself… a bit absurd limiting this, isn’t it?

Why does Macron not wear a pocket square with his black tie kit alongside Biden? Is that continental?
