Hi there,
I’m a researcher in Communication & Culture working on a project about online menswear culture. While I’m based in Toronto, Canada I’m currently looking to interview forum users who live in the Bay Area, New York, Montreal and London. The interview would involve an open-ended discussion of menswear, online forums and your online shopping habits. The purpose of this research is to get a better understanding, in users’ own words, of how the internet has changed men’s relationship to clothing. While there seems to be a lot of talk of fashion blogs these days, forums strike me as much more important. I got interested in this topic because I’ve been reading and posting (albeit lightly) on forums myself for around seven years (modculture and filmnoirbuff). The results of this research will eventually be published in a scholarly book or journal and your identity will be kept anonymous.
At the moment my focus is on finding people to interview in the Bay Area as I'll be in San Francisco February 13th -19th 2015. I’ll travel to wherever is convenient to meet up, interviews will take an hour to an hour and a half and I’ll pay you an honorarium of $50 to compensate you for your time (£30 when in London). I'm also looking to interview forum users in Montreal, Toronto, New York and London later in the year so please email me (nweiner@yorku.ca) or PM if you live in any of those cities and would like to be interviewed for this research project.
I’ve already done a number of interviews with users of British clothing forum. While it is obviously a very different type of forum (I'm trying to cover all the bases), you can see from this thread over there that I’m for real:

And a bit about me:

Note to moderators: this is not market research, it is purely scholarly and I have no connections to market research firms or clothing retailers of any kind.
