Shaving, Skin, and Body Care

This could be interesting, though pretty expensive, but as an Eau de Parfum would better fit in the Fragrances thread.

I shaved with Astra "green" today.

Not as sharp as a Feather, but so smooth and comfortable. You almost don t feel it, as it gently cuts your beard.
I would suggest them to everyone, but especially to new safety razor shavers and guys with delicate skin.

Is it really though? I've heard (read) only bad things about their offerings, 110% marketing and no substance. So I never bothered to get some samples.
its definitely more on the niche side. im not a big vetiver guy but i liked FE when i smelled it. might be worth cherry picking some samples if you find some decent reviews, but i wouldn't run out of the house to buy a bottle.

Yes they are the best blade option. Feather is overrated.
The Feather savaged my neck yesterday, I haven't cut anywhere, it's literally razor burn.

Pimpernel Smith Pimpernel Smith , one other thing I will recommend is spend some time beard mapping. Look at growth direction and whisker thickness/toughness. You won't be able to have a really good shave until you have done this. Once you figure that put, you are basically on autopilot as it becomes muscle memory.

I would definitely recommend going over to Badger & Blade, you can learn anything you need there in a hurry.

Had the fourth shave this morning, I didn't shave yesterday, one seriously close shave without being aggressive on the skin, with the exception of a bit rash on the lower neck. The Feather blade is clearly broken in and delivering peak performance.
Like others have said. New blades need 2/3 shaves before they become comfortable.

Pimpernel is not a sixteen year old. He knows his own beard. The different kit is the only variant.

As for Badger and Blade, a shaving forum can be a bit obsessive. Though not as bad as some the YouTube shaving types.

ooooooh

i gave up wet shaving a while back. was just having too many skin problems with ingrowns and folliculitis.

Yesterday I tried the Floid Mentolado Suave After Shave: can't really smell any big difference with my vintage one, nor with the current Mentolado Vigoroso. All of them are excellent, soothing and refreshing like no other one.

Admin:: Could we have a Thread dedicated to BEARD MAPPING?

I was studying to be Suit Scientist - but since the trend toward Casual Athleisure I think doggy has convinced me to study to be a Beard Cartographer.

Shaved this morning and no razor burn at all. Similar to using an electric razor, it takes a week and a bit for your skin to get use to it.

I looked today and my bountiful supply of disposable razors has depleted. Maybe it's time I purchased something nicer. Any thoughts?

Electric is probably fine. I actually don't have a whole lot of facial hair.

You can't go wrong with the Philips S9000 electric shaver, except for that little bit around your adam's apple.

I've enough Feather blades for several months, if not a year. Pushed it a bit today, I knew it was the sixth shave yesterday and it was about done, but decided to push the envelope and now my neck and chin are somewhat razor burned to death.

What shaving cream do you use?

TOBS is good, along with Trumper, T&H and D.R. Harris making up the best soaps and creams from the UK.

I've always been more of a soap guy, the creams go too fast. D.R. Harris has been my staple for many years now as it seems to be the easiest latherer of the bunch.

Six shaves with the same blade seem too much to me.

I prefer a shaving cream to a soap instead: a cream lathers more easily and has a "creamier" consistence. It's true however that a soap lasts much longer.

I have hundred plus razors, 300 to 400 shaving soaps and creams. Not too many After Shaves, probably around 50 to 60. I have Feather AC straights, genuine straights, DE's, cart system razors, injectors, Wecks, Durham Duplex.
I usually use an Injector and a Wilkinson Sword Profile Royale - I have 5 or 6, I have lost count.
