Shooey & fxh had a Big Day Out in Melbourne today - looking at menswear shops - quality high end only - and yapping to various people in all the shops. Inspecting all kinds of garments for flaws, bad stitching, crappy cashmere and - worst of all - glued sole shoes in binder leather at high prices.

It was raining gently for the first half of the day but by mid afternoon it was coming down in buckets.

I took some extremely bad photos which look nothing like the correct colours of anything except the jeans and croc shoes.

Here's the first bad pic - shooey's shoes today. The actual shoos were great and not much like the picture.

Now here's a good pic of a not very good product - at a high end shop at the Casino
Jeans and price and shooey's fingernail.

Rain and jumpers?

You are shattering our preconceptions of Australia.

Never been to Melbourne. Brisbane and Sydney and Alice Springs.

Some frightening prices on display there, I would engage the Melbourne Sharpies as my own private army of shop lifters!

I dunno $1695.00 - for a very crappy looking pair of jeans seems fair

It wasn't cold - in fact it was a bit muggy. I had my jacket off half the time

I also saw some Tom Ford tracksuit pants that were around $2,000. Still not as expensive as the Hermes ones at $3,500 I saw 6 months ago. Lots of paper thin cashmere knits at around 2k also. Those $1,700 jeans were Tom Ford. Saw two Asian kids decked out in highend designer stuff (Thom Brown and Balmain etc) looking at basic street wear worth as much as people's car. Also...I always laugh when l see cotton t-shirts worth over $1,000, but obviously someone's buying them.

Wow, l look like an old man about to fall over (right pic). I am laughing my head off looking at it.

Todays outfit:

* 1960's vintage Pringle cashmere cardigan
* Isaia handmade bengal stripe shirt
* Vass handmade burgundy oxfords
* Canali navy wool trousers
* navy cravat with white pin dots

No wonder you dudes look down on Foster's lager!

Perhaps they need to start buying it again?

It was good stuff in the UK until the big bad bang of brew-chem technology and processes took over and killed lager beer for the masses forever. Next thing we knew it was all ice-beers and other marketing gimmicks to hide industrial produced chemical beer one molecule removed from bleach.
