Can I ask why you are blacking out your photos?
My understanding is that the AB is close to what English Bulldogs looked like a few hundred years ago, back when they were butcher's dogs and working farm dogs.
The story goes that they were brought to America by settlers and kept as a pure breed in the American South, while in the rest of the States they were bred with terriers to create the more aggressive Pit Bull, and in England they were bred with Pugs to create a smaller, exaggerated version that was suitable for indoor life.
The modern American Bulldog (not the bullshit penis-replacing "American Bully" abomination that has become a status symbol in the gangsterpussy mouthbreather douchebag demographic) is supposed to be a reconstruction of the original working bulldog.
