Buy Pearson Publishing (NYSE PSO) as they are 80% of school publishing. You may think that paper publishing is dying, but you'd be wrong. Read up on Common Core and you'll see.

No sense in investing. Spend everything. We are all dead in a few decades, right LelandJ LelandJ ?

Check that. Invest in Elon Musk. Then when the time comes, run to the launch pad like a refugee running for Germany and hold on for dear life

Maybe as soon as two decades for northern hemisphere, although the crude oil experts are saying we're gonna be in some unprecedented demand dissatisfaction, destruction, within a few years.

Interesting. When did OPEC start messing with oil production and the price started falling? Would have been nice to see that in the article on the Bakken Play and North Dakota's production going down.

OPEC's been fixing the market since its inception. The artificially low price is unsustainable but so are depletion rates. Pretense that everything's merry will go on until the plug's pulled, of course expect this to happen geo-politically and most likely coincide with emergence of WWIII.

Maybe we could all convert Thruth's land to a doom stead. I'll bring my sound system, Rambo his IT power, Leit for manual labor, and LKP for his money.

Of course they have. My issue is with the half-assed reporting on that site that failed to link the most recent manipulation with the downturn in production of new and/or more difficult extraction plays like Bakken(fracking) or the oil sands.

Did you check older posts or just front page?

Cursory glance of the front page shows unbalanced reportage. If there is better stuff in deep it is dead to me now.

Be like Fok and look through to page 20 of google search for vintage jacket or bakken play.

I don't understand the people preaching buying an ETF. Indices are close to all time highs. Are people betting they will just keep climbing?

This reminds me of the sheep mentality towards mutual funds two decades ago.

It's mostly dollar cost averaging.

Very true. The chance of you picking the right stock and beating the market is extremely slim, and the time you'd have to spend on it is unreasonably. Then you also have to take into account market timing and such. Research has shown that professinal investors can hardly consistently beat the market with stock picking, let alone a retail investor making decisions based on "stock tips".

Seriously though, punting around on a few names is a really bad idea. Do you really think you're smarter than loads of highly educated and seasoned PMs with decades of experience looking at the markets for 80 hours a week?

If professionals can't do it, why should we should trust them with our money to do it for us?

In my experience, investment professionals are concerned with collecting fees above all else.
