There have been a lot of very good posts on sweaters but they keep getting lost in the shuffle of chatter and the info ends up in the wind. Figured it was time to collect some of this in a single resource.

For organic cotton sweaters recommend Knowledge Cotton Apparel:

I just placed an order for a Jamieson's Shetland. I was advised to size up, which was consistent with the approximate measurements of my existing sweaters. However, sweaters are hard to judge because they all have variation in thickness. I will update if it was a success.

Some heavy knits will stretch a couple inches too just by their own weight so measurements can be very misleading.

I have 4 sweatera. Two v necks one cashmer one lambswool. And two crew necks one cashmere/wool blend. I have posted a photo of me wearing it, the other one is a lambswool. All of them made in italy. I used to have a very lamsbwool black v neck made in scotland for 6876 ( technical garments) but it disapeared from my closet one day.

Ofc 'organic' cotton is admirable but cotton simply sucks as a sweater except with some blends as it bags, shrinks in some places and loses its shape.

i like sweaters
got many of them, many colours. all cashmere

i once read a post/ article(?) by an american (?) where he stated that sweaters are being worn in a more formal manner in europe than in the us - e.g. with flannels and a tie. that a sweater is appropriate restaurant wear etc.
cannot find it anymore.

what is your sweater game?
do you wear with a tie? with flannels? is it apporiate for a restaurant that would otherwise require a jacket?

Just picked up two new 3 ply Johnstons cashmere V Necks this week. Turquoise one I'm wearing now, and a burnt orange.

I don't wear jumpers - in winter I just plait my body hair so it looks like a cable knit sweater.

I'm wearing a similar color v neck today with some lovat green moleskins.
