Texas Textbooks

Ideas promoted in various proposed textbooks include the notion ... that in the era of segregation only “sometimes” were schools for black children “lower in quality” and that Jews view Jesus Christ as an important prophet
So according to the progressives:
Every black school was worse than every white school.
No Jews view Christ as an important prophet. Jews for Jesus is not a thing.
A number of government and world history textbooks exaggerate Judeo-Christian influence on the nation’s founding and Western political tradition.
This is impossible. What other influence was there? Shinto? Liberal whackos, the past was not multi-culti. Deal with it.
...included a bid to calling the United States’ hideous slave trade history as the “Atlantic triangular trade.”
This is fact. Molasses, rum, slaves. The slaves bought were already slaves in Africa...to other black Africans. Deal with it!
I'm going to stop, as it is clear that a bunch on anti-Americans seek to use the schools to denigrate western culture, religion, and our superior achievements while inaccurately and disproportionately lauding women and minorities.

I am glad you are just funnin' around

It's one thing to include the grit of real history, as opposed to the unrealistic propagandized version I received which was clearly a fraud. But the marxist assholes seek only to belittle the heroes of our history and elevate our enemies with no respect for balance or truth. I used to be ambivalent on my patriotism, but I hate these wussies so much...USA USA USA!
I know I was welcoming Sharia law yesterday, but may Jesus wipe out the pagans and the Mohammedans and other unbelievers.
USA!

Um, Amongst other things you are ranting in favour of Thomas Jefferson being replaced another great American hero, John Calvin?

I've always disliked the failure to tie in Christian philosophy/morals with Greek philosophy (via Rome); it really represents a fusion of Judiasm and Graeco-Roman philosophy and then an evolution beyond that as it dealt with tremendous social, political, and economic turmoil during its formative years.

It has a heritage about which it should be very proud. Graeco-Roman philosophy is the foundation of Western Civilization.

(Though admittedly, that tradition was only able to survive in its full form--as opposed to it's evolved Christianized form--thanks to Middle Eastern scholars, it is still the fusion of mid-millennial Christian thought and its progenitor philosophies "re-discovered" that gave birth to Renaissance and Enlightenment movements.)

I like threads where there is one serious poster and one over the top silly poster.

...but how does Lee Harvey Oswald fit into all of this?

Serious response below. Mostly. But seriously. Fuck Justin Timberlake.

Greek philosophy------->
to Roman philosophy and law

Roman philosophy (maybe? I think many just consider it shittier Greek philosophy)------>
Jewish tradition----------------------->
Greek philosophy---------->
Jesus' teachings (which both rely on a number of fundamental assumptions justified by Greek philosophy and which were then interpreted through a lens largely shaped by Greek philosophy)------>
to Early Christian development

Greek philosophy------->
Roman law------->
Enlightenment (direct result of the "rediscovery" of Greek philosophy some 2-300 years previously)
Protestant values------->
Formation of America

Cold War------->
The tragic deaths of Freddie Mercury and Justin Timberlake------->
The awesomeness of American thought today. From all sides.

This is for the contras:
Eh. Fuck Queen.

This illustrates the complexity of things that cannot possibly be taught especially in the public school system. We already dumb things down and teach untruths (innocently). But to dumb things down and purposely teach untruths is ridiculous.

Certainly when Moses came down from his chat with God it issued in a new set of rules for both man and dinosaur but it is a big leap to the founding of the second greatest nation on earth.

Your children need to know [and Canadian children too because they are taught nothing about Canada and everything about America in history; I mean really French guys & English guys fighting over beaver pelts and all the while wishing they were Spaniards because they had California snd Florida] who was behind this thing called a republic and it wasn't some Israelite with God on speed dial.

I'm still trying to understand whats going on here.

Is there a confused/bemused button?

Never been to Texas, pretty sure I never will excluding Houston airport which I had the unfortunate experience of having to sleep at once on missed connection.

One year ago and they were doing jack hammer construction from midnight to 5am inside the damn terminal.

For all the silliness it would be a shame to miss Austin, even if it's not as cool as it used to be.

I once spent two eye-opening days in Corsicana Texas. It was then a dry city./county and there was a sort of private "town", called Mustang if I recall, just outside the boundary that had a shop, selling booze and about 10 double wides as the town. All owned by the grog shop owner, the "mayor" so they always voted "right".

Nobody else sees the deliberate vitriol against a nation by their own educational system as a house divided against itself? It won't stand! And that's what they want, if you ask me.
Over in Best Korea, they don't learn salacious gossip, they learn of their leader's glories and triumphs. Thus they are proud and succeed instead of becoming SJW apologists of no value to society.

Not sure Austin was ever cool. Somehow places get labelled cool when they are a liberal bastion in the center of a backwards place. Does it make it cool when likeminds can huddle together and get piercings/tattoos? Debatable. New Orleans has the same label. It's a corrupt, dirty, smelly backwater that shouldn't even be a city because of it's geographical constraints.

And cool cities seem to be a revolving door. Seattle had that mantle at one point, then Portland. I recall San Francisco being the cool place way back when the gay mafia took over. And remember when Miami had it's day before everyone became bored with Salsa?

You know this is bullshit when Forbes publishes a list of America's coolest 20 cities. Washington DC, #1? Cool? What the fuck is this this shit?

It's all PR for impressionable idiots that want to feel part of the in-crowd.

Edit: Fuck this, starting a thread.

Lol.

You are over thinking this. I think Austin was cool because I have been there many times and thought it was cool. That's pretty much it. Now it's a homogenized blob of tech weenies and national chains.

I'm sure you've already noticed that I overthink everything. And I was opening this thread when you replied, exactly, homogenized bullshit. The most a city can want for is to be unique, and that's now impossible.

Taking it there, or Chorn Chorn will get mad.
