The Color Pink

Well, if you are Italian you can pretty much wear pink whenever and wherever the hell you want.

For regional and cultural norms, I'd avoid it in WalMart, especially in open carry states.

To be somewhat Molloy, it does seem that the lower down the socio-economic ladder one gets, the more averse they are to pink on men.

Acceptable:

Shirt
Square
Tie
Accent in suiting
Socks

Unacceptable:

Shorts
Pants
Jackets
Shoes
Headwear
Underwear
Belts

I have a pair of pink boxer shorts. They are great.
For jackets, I guess it's really darker than pink but there are light reddish silk/linen/cotton deals where it can work if the stars align.

FNB would have an epic ramble about this.

Don't be so provincial.

I am not sure where that comes from. Pink dress shirts are common in Italy as well as the UK (I believe)

But seriously, I wear ties with pink accents, pink dress shirts. Don't think I could rock a pink odd jacket though

Pale men shouldn't wear pink, obviously.

Not really. I've seen it worn more in the South than anywhere else.

And Mexicans/Central Americans.

Up until around 1920 pink was regarded as a manly colour. It wasn't until the 1940s - 1950s that babies were divided into pink for females and blue for males. Only idiots think pink is somehow less than acceptable on male.

Last time I walked by televised sports commentary, I'm sure that the huge ex-athletes were wearing all manner of pink an purple with their pocket squares and a largely Windsor-knotted ties under their vests.
I guess that only gets prole-love if one is a prole superstar?

I have a pair of BB milanos in soft pink which I love. Soft, light pink > magenta pink. Besides fit, loud colors requires confidence.

Ralph Lauren used to carry a pink named Caramel Pink that I was rather fond of in a polo.

The pink polo is de rigeur if one has any hope of joining a fraternity from what I have seen.

Any one remember the Abercrombie craze a few years ago? All the college guys were wearing pink A&F polos with the collars popped.

You yanks seem to be a bit provincial about the colour pink. It only threatens dumb fucks, and always pleases the ladies when I wear my pink shirts. Outstanding with a tan!

I have worn pink shirts and ties for many years. Never had the slightest grief over it (although maybe my size was a factor). As to wearing pink shirts around the "shootin' crowd," I sometimes will wear a pink shirt to the range, and I'd wear 'em to NRA conventions 30 years ago. No comments, no nothing. Remember the old adage that an armed society is a polite society.

I flirted with the idea of buying a pink seersucker jacket at a Brooks Outlet some years back. I passed on it partly because the fit wasn't quite right and partly because I knew it would not have been well received by the Old Philistine to whom I am married!

Women do sometimes act like you are stealing something from them if you wear pink.
