She was grandstanding there with the USA supporting genocide trope and saying I will take that as a ''Yes'' in relation to the massacre question when he clearly stated ''No''.
i'm sorry, what? he's literally admitted to being a war criminal. how on earth could you possibly come to that conclusion?

No he never, he stated in context that El Salvador being a democracy for the past decades, he was explicitly referring to El Salvador's democratic credentials only. On being asked did he support the massacre/genocide he said ''No'' and she said ''I will take that as a yes!''

So he oversaw the brutal massacre of hundreds of people and your issue here is one of semantics?

You have evidence that he oversaw the brutal massacre and genocide? She's grandstanding because it pays with her base to associate jews with genocide. That's the game at play. We know he was up to the neck in Contra scandal, but there is not a shred of evidence that he supported genocide. She asks leading questions: ''Would you support an armed faction within Venezuela that engages in war crimes, crimes against humanity, or genocide, if you believe they were serving U.S. interests, as you did in Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua?” She takes it as given that the USA and he personally has supported genocide in those countries. America as the Great Satan. Jew as perpetrator of genocide through puppets.

She also cut him off before he had a chance to answer: ''“I fail to understand why members of this committee or the American people should find any testimony that you give today to be truthful.......That was not a question!”

It was grandstanding.

YES he was literally convicted!!!

You cant possibly be serious with this?

No, I was joking.....it's always a pleasure to turn down real jobs and investment from the capitalist filth for the 3bn that was waiting to be invested in more worthy infrastructure schemes....oh wait...….!

I dont think I have the requisite pull for that my friend

I meant in the general sense, you being our representative from the great state of blackface.

I do have a couple tins of Kiwi shoe polish laying around, maybe we can push them into not coming through shame.

Pakistan rolls out red carpet for Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed

Imran Khan spent all those years trying to be a legitimate politician after his cricket career and takes over a mess.

Saudis cancel their IPO and start playing Rudyard Kipling's The Great Game with China on victims like Pakistan.

However, I found this the most amusing: "Saudi Arabia, like some of the other gulf countries, has lots of cash but not necessarily a particularly strong army. Pakistan has not very much cash but a very strong and powerful army."

Aren't they both supplied and partially trained by the US? I recall a lot of F-16s on both sides.

I’ve known a few people in the arms trade who described the KSA military purchasers as easily impressed children. They will buy anything new and shiny- with no thought to integration, logistics and supply chains. The result is one of the most over priced and under equipped armies in the world.

Given their skewed class structure, I imagine they are all officers with no grunts.

When you have an interrogator who say's I take that as a Yes, when the accused said No, you're in trouble. That's the prime issue.

I admire the principle in eschewing jobs for socialist pride. It's a good move, as it exposes the madness for what it is.

A lot of myths about the KSA. One being that when the Brits took the Saudi arms buyers to Madame JoJo's in London they thought the female impersonators were cis-ladies. But they're not that dumb, the USA and Brit foreign policy in Syria was dictated by Riyadh.

look at how dismissive she is of this kid

Similar situation now in the UK. Actually, the average deby of $36,000 is not that much compared to the UK. My nephew has GBP70,000 after a four year accounting degree. My mum voted for Corbyn's mob in the hope that he would cancel the student debt. But why should those who don't go to college and university fund the college education of those who went to private or public schools, from priviliged backgrounds and who's education should afford them higher salaries? Why should someone who leaves school at 16 and works in a shoe shop fund the likes of my nephew?

Victor Hanson nails it, taken from an essay Remodeling America linked below:
''The Jacobins will have to explain how they plan on abolishing $1.5 trillion in aggregate student debt, at a time of a likely $22 trillion national debt, and how from here on out they will make college 'free for all' in the manner of health care. Will adults who have driven a semi-truck since they were 18 pay for the debts of hipster Pajama Boys who dabbled in six-unit semesters ad infinitum?''

AOC, the dumbest person to be elected to Congress.
Probably not, but she’s up there. At the same time, I’m glad her she’s there. Just as the GOP has the Tea Party, the Left should get their own pain in the ass. I also think the less monolithic our political parties are, the better. Encourages more dialogue and forces new issues into light. Or it would if the institution of Congress wasn’t crumbling (for which all share the blame, but I particularly blame 2010 Mitch)

She should have started with what she ended with (upon prompting): she’s not for free four year college for all.

Student debt is ridiculous, and the whole system, debt and school tuition, needs to be dramatically improved. However, it annoys me when young adults gripe about debt that they signed up for. Yes, they were 18 and dumb because they were 18, but it would go a long way if they were to express some culpability. This is especially true for the people who entered college after 2010, when they issues with student debt became really apparent. I entered undergrad in 04 and there really wasn’t much out there about the dangers of student debt. After 2010, more people should know better.

I graduated with about 55k in debt (and that’s with half paid for by scholarship, and another 25k chipped in by parents). I worked my ass off to pay it all within two years of graduating. It involved 60-70 work weeks, a full time job with a lot of piecemeal side gigs. I lived in a $500 a month apartment over a bar until I had it all paid off. Oh, and I had to leave the country because the market was shit and I wanted to go somewhere where I could get away from paying much in taxes due to expat status (before returning to the US, I was paying about 5k in taxes on about 100k in income...that loophole needs to be addressed).

So sometimes I see people complaining about their debt or asking for loan foregiviness and think “Honey, you signed up for this. I managed to pay mine off, you should to.” At the same time, what I had to do is probably unreasonable, and expecting millions of 20 somethings to do the same is therefore also unreasonable.

I get that you might not like her policies or ideology, but if you actually believe she is dumb then you are a stooge to the right wing propaganda machines.

Obviously "dumb" is a hyperbole. She obviously is not mentally challenged. In a way she is very cunning at manipulation

She certainly is a classic case of the Dunning-Kruger effect. Economically illiterate, admitting her specialisation was not in international issues when delivering some sound bites on ''Palestine'' although she majored in International Relations and with a self-assurance and superficial charisma that would put a narcissist to shame. She is the perfect politician for the zeitgeist of the SJW/progressive/post-modernist authoritarian era. She may yet be the first female Mao. There is something deeply sinister and dangerous with her vision for America.

well he did say "can you please give a yes or no answer?"

and whats with the praying hand pointing thing she does?

so the real question here is, how can we make you happy with this proposal?

Make Gen Z people suffer as he did
I think we all have that impulse: I did it, so you should, too.

It isn’t a good impulse for a lot of reasons.

I love that the guy tried to keep her from ducking the question, which is what a politician will do when asked a direct question. She still tried to duck, but she was eventually forced to give a straight answer.

As far as what to do about debt? I don’t know. I’m definitely against large scale forgiveness. Consenting adults signed a legally binding contract, one which the other party upheld. At the same time, the entire institutional system is clearly broken, and these people are the primary victims of it, so something must be done.

I am glad that politicians are highlighting this issue because it needs to be discussed and addressed.

Every generation has to be tested and earn their place in the great scheme of things. The Millenials through indoctrination called BS on that, but they will get to learn the hard way. My missus is big into one of the psychology magazines here and there was article on the high burn-out of millennials in the job market, but we still need them as they're good on computers. Not really, if you can't work you're not going to compete in the era of Globalism. Absolutely not. We'll set up feeder companies in India and bring them in as and when needed, cut out the local work shy.

I don't believe future generations should mirror all the obstacles and problems that my generation did, but they will have their own issues and rat race to get ahead. This is the human condition and with absolute poverty decreasing the benchmark of comfort gets enlarged until everyone is enjoying a quality of life our ancestors couldn't dream of.

But she didnt actually propose anything but bullshit. There were no substantive fixes to the system.

The kids are all saying "what do we want? Free college and loan forgiveness! When do we want it? NOW!"

And she came back with "ok well i here you but how about additional pell grants and better refinancing programs on your existing loans you cant afford?"

No single person is going to have an answer, certainly not a politician. But if we can get people to agree it’s a problem that needs to be addressed (not quite there yet) and get people discussing it (almost there), then a more reasonable answer than “free college and loan forgiveness for all” or “free market principles are all we need” will emerge.

I’m glad she was willing to say no, even though she had to be cornered to do it. Should hopefully make for interesting primary debates.

Random ideas I like:
- free or cheaper two year colleges and trade schools. Too many people go to four year universities, and there are also too many four year universities.
It isn’t the students’ fault, but there are definitely students who are better off not going into debt to get a four year degree.
- Expand the public service loan foregiveness thing. I also support mandatory service (though not necessarily military) for both genders.
- Cut interest rates on student loans
- Freeze interest for people who took out student loans between 2000-2010 and that are paying back loans
- provide tax incentives for corporations who invest heavily in human capital and establish intensive training programs providing transferable skills (e.g., Rackspace’s Open Cloud Academy)
- probably investigate student loan regulations. Don’t know anything about them, nor do I want to

My paternal grandfather's father died and that was the only parent. He took care of two younger siblings at age 12 helping to sell chicken at a market. Not quite sure I can do the same. But that was way before millennial.

Wow. You should really run for office. This is just smart enough to impress some 10%'ers but not effective enough to piss off any 1%'ers. Youre the perfect democrat!
