The One Pair of Black Shoes

Hey everyone.

So, I'm planning on buying one pair of black shoes for most ocassions. I normally don't wear black shoes, in fact I only have 2 pairs right now but I bought those when I didn't know, as I mentioned in the other thread, as much as I know now, so I paired everything with black shoes, althoguh there was a part of me that thought "this doens't look right".

So I bought a pair of Prada's that I thought were "amazing" just becuase in the heel they have a small plate that says "Prada". And I bought another pair from Cuadra that I used for most of the ocassions, like for example when I was invited to a graduation and I knew I was going to be dancing all night, so those have received a very rough use.

This are the Prada's with tubber sole...

So my question is, which is the shoe I should look for? Bear in mind that this shoe is going to be worn max 1-2 times a month and I'm going very high. Is it really worth to invest $700 in a shoe that is going to be used that "much"?

I was thinking in terms of style that could work for any ocassion would be something like this:

Or maybe something like this, but to be honest, I'll prefer to have this ones in any other color first than black.

The top cap-toe oxford is very much in the classic AE Park Ave. style. It is as safe as can be and is understated, not eye-catching.
I'm not a whole-cut fan, and they tend to work better when the leather has depth and character, which uniform black does not.
The last ones are more distinctive, and that may ultimately work against them. Not bad, but not supremely versatile either.

Those Prada's are nice and durable beaters. But not at $700. The finished surface will last for a very long time.

Sometimes for clothing, the least used items are the most expensive and deserves the most budget on. Suit you wed in, watches you intend to pass to your descendants.



Thinking of getting an used AE PA just to dress down on the occasions. That's going to be the 4th pair of black shoes I have.

So I should keep the Prda's? I mean I already spent on those. That was an option. The other considered in the thread is selling them and buy the new ones.

Sí - tal vez no me explico bien. Quiero decir que mayormente los pieles exóticos (por lo menos a mí) parecen algo muy estereotípico al hombre Latino über-metrosexual. Siendo tú hombre Latino, en MX además, me imagino que no hay tal asociación "negativa"

No quiero decir que no sean unos zapatos atractivos, sino que para mí llevan la connotación de tal tipo de persona.

I personally would return the Pradas and get AE PA or C&J Hallam for much cheaper as a beater. But you might have difficulties regarding access at Mexico.

For those who are languageally challenged:

Yes - it might not make myself clear. I mean mostly the exotic skins (at least to me) seem very stereotypical Latino man über-metrosexual. You being Latino man in MX besides, I guess there's no such association "negative"

Not that shoes are not attractive, but for me carry the connotation of such a person.

Black Cliftons. Very sleek by AE standards. I'd not drop serious green on some kicks you'll only use 2-3 times a calender.
