for context, this guy hopped onto Styleforum once or twice, posted boring fits accompanied by the expectation that he would be showered with praise and was promptly laughed off

seemed to be attempting to be a big shot on Reddit MFA by, as usual, inserting his voice wherever and whenever possible. the kids sarcastically refer to these guys as "Main Characters" and I think that's pretty apt

See, the internet has lead to a generation of igents and Derek Guy clones.

The kid has a foul mouth too. If l was his dad i'd ground him for a year.

How can anyone be a Derek Guy clone when no online images of Derek Guy seem to exist?

No, you're going to have to narrow it down for me.

He got off to a great start with "Reddit doesn't care about this fit, I expect Styleforum to compensate."

Here's a post somewhere in the middle of the most recent spaz-out, in which he attempts to blame his self-righteous hostility on being a lawyer and the Socratic method

That first pic just sums up half of the SW&D WAYWT thread.

Boring, dull, completely un-noticeable. If he walked past you on the street you wouldn’t even see him blending into the concrete and steel.

The other half is a cacophony of clown clothes as demonstrated by the likes of DenisCP.

There used to be a regular poster named Clarinet Player. He would always post weird pictures of himself gripping a book or something just to demonstrate how far he could hyperextend his knuckles. He once posted pictures of himself in a ragged OCBD, tattered cargo shorts and crocs. When someone challenged him he said that’s what he was wearing to do some gardening. Why the fuck would you post pictures of that on a ‘classic menswear’ forum? It’s just fucking weird man! That SWD thread is full of soporific dull and mundane shit that leaves me scratching g my head why they think it’s worthy of any public display.

Vaguely remember Clarinet. 😄 The dude above actually wears a very wide range of fits, so not sure why he wanted comments on the most boring one. His style is varied and not to my taste but good luck to him. He was good in Severance.

Derek Guy clone = their thinking will be shaped by him (mini Dereks running around), so we will get more people annoying the clothing makers and shops by posing as experts. Those makers and retailers can't stand those types.

What is the standard question they ask George? Is this hand welted. No wonder George buries them and wipes their faces in the dirt. Like George says "you are not ready". He is so sick of those know-it-all know nothings.

The only one of these that has anything positive going for them is Berg & Berg, and that is because they are one of the few RTW retailers that use heavier English cloth instead of the standard lightweight Italian stuff.

I’m actually very surprised he is still at it. After nearly ten years of Pitti, blogging, e-book authoring, religious Insta posting and plastering SF he has yet to launch this beyond a cringey hobby.
