Things You Just Don't Get

When people say - please don't film the live concert and respect the artists - and people pull out their mobile and film anyway.

A family coming to an opera concert each holding at least one if not two of the following: ice cream, french fries, and fried chicken.

It's a one hour concert. I don't think people will die if they don't eat for one hour at 3:00 PM.
 
I was trailing a few people walking some blocks north. One of them smelt like someone who didn't for weeks or days. As people peeled off I realised it was the tall one playing around with a mobile phone that was newer than mine - slightly ragged and dirty top and torn cuffs on his trousers.
 
A man approaching 50 who is single, never married and doesn’t have kids. He has friends with benefits with someone in their 20s. Is that pathetic, fucked up, or glamour?

No I am not middle aged. I may be bitter and jaded but that's because I am mature beyond my years.

The average age life expectancy of a male in the US is 75. In fact, I think it has dropped even further. Are you well under 37ish?

Dark ages? I guess maybe when Fwiffo Fwiffo finds a wife or at least a steady girlfriend and 'settles down'?
 
In Oz it’s 84 life expectancy for someone born this year. In 1980 it was about 74. And so on. So depending when fwiffo was born his life expectancy is some where between 74 and 84. Let’s say 79+ so middle age is 35 to 45. Although for some reason 50 is usually called middle age. Since fwiffo is somewhat Canadian there may be factors than mean he will live longer or shorter than if he was lucky enough to be born in australia.
 
I didn't think middle age was total age / 2. I'm going to bet most of you will live till 90 or more anyway. No one here sounds like they're crawling around in a coal mine 12 hours a day.

In my mind middle age was after you figured out your vocation in life, found some success, maybe/maybe not marriage/kids/home ownership and you hit a wall and aren't stimulated by everything and everyone you accumulated. Then you start wondering if it was all worth it so you want to change the trajectory of your life.

My father is getting into a pissing contest with my brother's in laws on who should host certain meals and where on special occasions. He feels slighted he doesn't get the best timeslots and days. I did ask him to consider they live 100km+ away and you live a block away from your son so even though you might not see them every day they might be moaning and whinging all the same.

Selecting players for a sports team needs to include diversity?

Shouldn't I be forming a team with the players who have the athletic and spiritual prowess to win games?

People on a public transit bus on speaker phone. I don't think it's comfortable for either ends of the telephone nor the people sitting on the bus who don't want to be part of the conversation.
 
It's 2c this morning. People are wearing puffy winter jackets with shorts as they leave the gym. Thermal loss in your lower body is okay?
 
People who have visibly emotional and angry phone calls in public. Like my co-working space. Do people forget they have an audience? Is the audience required to enhance the dramatic effects of screaming into the phone? I am catching on this woman and man with a young child are fighting and they use the phone booth here for marriage therapy video sessions.
 
I did more paternal things for my "daughter" than her birth father did. But I don't need an offensive or inoffensive title. Results speak for themselves.

There used to be that corner or end of an aisle with instant shoe polish, shoe mitts and shoe laces. I guess people don’t wear leather shoes anymore.

What film? I liked the Buffy series, but was never a big fan of SMG.
 
Dating in the Digital Age. My friend asked me for my take on her current situation: she hooked up with a guy after a lot of texting last week. Afterwards, his texts became less frequent and the temperature dropped significantly. When she texted anything flirty he ‘heart reacted’ but didn’t reciprocate. I told her just to ask him where she stands and if he is interested in another date. Of course she didn’t call him though - she texted him and has spent the last eight hours staring at her text left on ‘read’.

Back in my day, you’d look someone in the eye and ask them out. They’d look back at you and give some awkward mumbled response about having to wash their hair or something 🤣
