This Week In Science & Technology

The inflationary theory is crocked. Astronomy was my elective when I was drifting from sciences to arts in uni.

“Mainly based in Silicon Valley with a couple in Europe and Asia, they have developed techniques to extract fish stem cells and grow them into commercial quantities of edible flesh.

Stem cells are a type of cell, found in embryos or adult creatures - which can grow into a number of different specialised cells. They can grow into the muscle cells which make up most the parts of fish people like to eat.”

How will I get the fatty parts attached to the bones then? I’m not a salmon fillet without bones type person.

As if the coppers coming around telling you to separate isn't enough.

"It is the night before the weekly shop. I look in the fridge and consider my three tomatoes, the sweet potato and the asparagus."

Tomatoes in a fridge?!

"Normally, I’d take this as my cue to nip to the fish and chip shop. However, I’m trying out Plant Jammer, an app that promises to rustle up a recipe based on whatever food you have lying around, using artificial intelligence.

It searches three million recipes to find often-paired items. It then consults a library of ingredients which the company has hired professional chefs to group by flavour - salt, umami, sour, oil, crunch, soft, sweet, bitter, spicy, fresh and aroma.

Finally, the software learns from this data and devises new recipes."

Dear God, no. Random recipe mash ups based on data by an artificial intelligence that hasn't ever eaten food in life before.

Next exclusive is...It’s a Wonderful Life. (Sarcasm intended)

Whats your take on this being ultimately successful?

I’m always skeptical of anything put out in a drug company press release (hello, Pfizer!), but an immunologist I work with seems pretty excited about this.

that's fantastic news. hopefully this will lead to some more cancer vaccines. or at least our being able to get the one from Cuba...

jesus that's bad. there have been numerous studies on this already.
I really believe Trudeau wants to hurt Canadians. It's not just incompetence, and sadly if this is what my countrymen want, then we deserve what is coming. I will be applying for Jamaican citizenship next year anyway

He's definitely got the right DNA for it, whoever is his father.

Patty is no different from the owned political class throughout the Western world, but by whom?

The play was all the same: massively underplay the risk and say the real issue was racism and better go out and kiss and hug a Chinese chap newly arrived from Wuhan; overplay the risk (understandable); total ineptness in protecting high risk care homes groups with some exceptions; high on the we can bring Trump down with this; we like this power let's continue to curtail work and social life (I get a warm and squelchy feeling in my stomach when we do this); anything that isn't a lockdown or vaccine result is ''fake news'' CNN endorsed.

Is there any of them with any credibility left?
