We're Turning The Planet's To Shit: Climate Change & Humanity's Ability To Ruin Anything Good

"Temperatures are expected to keep rising in many areas over the next two days. The north-eastern city of Zaragoza is forecast to see temperatures of up to 42C, while Badajoz, in the south-west, could register up to 47C on Thursday."

Meanwhile it is cool in the Netherlands.

They drop that paragraph in all the time now: ''Heatwaves have become more frequent, more intense, and longer-lasting because of climate change. The world has already warmed by about 1.1C since the industrial era began.'' They seem deem repeating the exact same wording as a mantra will ultimately get the desired fear effect.

Meanwhile, in the Netherlands the temperatures are about average. It'll be down to 12C overnight.

Back on the Wirral in the UK it's a tropical 23C, but it's forecast to get to 32C or 34C on Monday and Tuesday. That's not now, but that's enough for the whole media to go into frenzy on the current shocking heat in the mid-20C's. But to be fair, it's the humidity and clamminess in the UK that makes the relatively nice summer heat seem a little bit oppressive.

Move along, nothing to see here boys…

That is pretty insane. 41c in London and 24c in Liverpool

Why do you find this appalling?
As it's fear porn, absolutely designed as such: ''Our driving purpose at the MET office is to help you make better decisions to stay safe and thrive...extreme heat forecast right now is absolutely unprecedented...we've seen when climate change has driven such unprecedented severe weather all around the world...it can be difficult for people to make the best decisions...nothing in their life experience...this is not that sort of weather...our lifestyle and infrastructure is not adopted to what is coming...think about adjusting your plans...if you do have to go out wear a hat and sun cream...'' LOL! 24C in Liverpool hit the panic button.

Have none of these idiots ever been on holiday to a hot country?

Again more fear porn. The temperature in Amsterdam is nowhere near 40C. It's forecast 21C tomorrow. Monday 32C and Tuesday 37C and then it's back down to 24C and average for the rest of the week.

Hardly unprecedented.

The last really hot summer here was in 2018. There was temperatures above 30C for a couple of weeks. The daily forecast was generally 4-6C+ above what it actually was. Temperatures of 40C+ didn't materialize.

Revving up the fear. There's no places in Spain experiencing 60C+ and the temperatures in Madrid are what you expect when you visit in July and August high 30s and may even get 40+. It is after all a scorching desert this time of year.

Meanwhile, back in Blighty, the Met office predicts ''thousands will die''....

The Dutch about get it right with the news of a 2 day heatwave:

In Spain and Portugal, more than 1,000 deaths have been attributed to the heat in recent days.

Damn fearmongers

Definitely the same weather twenty years ago. I’m sure the UN Secretary General was out making dire proclamations back then as well. Hopefully, some of our resident climate change deniers will be able to dig up proof of this.

No doubt it is getting hotter but a lot of us in the west have to adapt. It really isn't that big a deal.

I was in Prague and Lisbon last week and it was hell. My sleep has been fucked in the heat but I don't see the reason for mass hysteria. Sure, be a good neighbour and check on those more vulnerable but for most, meh.

I managed to run 8 miles today in 39 degree C weather. I didn't die

Yeah no biggie

I am sure you're an outlier but you sound very disciplined in your fitness and diet regimen.

"It has been widely believed that a 35°C wet-bulb temperature (equal to 95°F at 100% humidity or 115°F at 50% humidity) was the maximum a human could endure before they could no longer adequately regulate their body temperature, which would potentially cause heat stroke or death over a prolonged exposure.

...

But in their new study, the researchers found that the actual maximum wet-bulb temperature is lower — about 31°C wet-bulb or 87°F at 100% humidity — even for young, healthy subjects. The temperature for older populations, who are more vulnerable to heat, is likely even lower."

You just beat a young man.

You would if you had listened to the Brit MET Office or read The Daily Mail. You can forgive the click-bait tabloid press cashing in and stoking the hysteria, but officialdom in the MET Office absolutely not.

The deciding factor there is the humidity, not the temperature.

and what causes increased humidity? a warmer climate! from 2017:

actually read this one. it might help cut down on the sheer inability to process anything other than "well it was warm once before so its not bad".

"Australia has vowed to cut carbon emissions by 43% on 2005 levels by 2030. Under its previous government, the target was 26-28%."

This is like my workplace. Let's keep increasing the target, keep the same timeframe, and hope we get there.

The humidity here is 20% at the moment with a temperature 33C, as the houses haven't warmed up as the heat hasn't been sustained over several days, it's perfectively doable in a house without air conditioning. I'm comfortable with it. In fact, the sensible people who are not at high risk of skin cancer, are down at the beach.

You will have noticed a desperate need from the elites to accelerate 2050 targets to 2030.

Meanwhile, the forum's favourite Marxist Libertarian speaks out against our anti-farming and food chain security betters:

40 degrees at 6pm, me likey! Now waiting for sea levels to rise so the beach comes closer.

As you know, The Daily Mail are masters at click-bait, they we're running articles like that whilst simultaneously conflicting climate alarmist ones that we're all going to die tomorrow. Something for everyone.

honestly its just like a regular old summer tuesday i don't know what the big fuss is about
Took an interest in the temperatures yesterday in the UK. I couldn't find any 40C's, well I wasn't checking the tarmac of Heathrow. But I believe London got to 39.1C not quite 40C.

Overall the temperatures were in the mid-30's similar to the 1976 heatwave that lasted for 6 weeks. This one lasted a day.

Up in Wick the temperature was 16C, Lands End 22C as too was Llandudno. Notice the latter is a tropical 15C this morning.

The Wirral was 38C and good job too as the council there declared a climate emergency two years ago and have committed to be carbon free and have changed everyone's diet by 2030. Or else.

Was impressed that the hottest ever temperature in Wales recorded in Hawarden as 37.1C breaking the record set also at Hawarden of 35C back in 1990. Use to bike through that village all the time back in the late 80s. Famous for being were Gladstone was born. Just across the border in Cheshire the hottest temperature ever was recorded at 34.9C, beating the record of 34.6C set in 1990.

Looking at the newspapers this morning, seems little evidence of the thousands who were all going to die according to the MET.

I especially like when articles claim the heat creates wildfires. Don’t think even 60 degrees is sufficient to incinerate wood.

You’re not actually this stupid in real life are you?
Well unlike your news source Emily Hernandez (aka "Breaking News Intern"), in real life I wouldn't get away with writing "The heat wave sweeping Europe has created hellish scenes, including dangerous wildfires", because no matter how stoopid I personally am, I am most certainly not surrounded by idiots. (side note, that's part of the enjoyment of the internet, e.g. where else would I get to meet pompous fake phds?)
