Things Every Man Should Know

How to parallel park. Just bought a car after not owning one for the better part of 10 years and was quite pleased that this skill hadn't eroded with time.

Its been more than a decade since I've had to do this. It would be a complete disaster if I had to go down to South Beach and park on the street.

We stay in Bickell and everywhere we go that we drive has valet parking or garage parking. NY is a different matter of course.

No, no. Used to, from 2001-2004. Back fairly regularly though (7-8x) per year for business/pleasure. Been staying at the Epic mostly for the last couple of years.

Damn son you a baller. I didn't know you were a high roller like that!

I used to live in the One Miami.

But you retain one critical piece of information about parallel parking: Done properly, it requires backing in first. That being the case, when you see someone turn on their blinker, drive just beyond an open parking spot, and stop, you know not to pull up behind them and wait, thus blocking them from backing in properly.

So, even if you've lost the practical skill, the fact that you know how to do it creates positive externalities for your fellow drivers.
Yeah, until I'm so rusty that it takes me 25 stop and go turns and I end up holding up everyone in the road. I'm sure they'll love me then.
