So summer is almost upon us and I've been doing a ton of research on finding the best shorts for summer.
Men's shorts is a pretty broad topic, it can include gym shorts, sweat shorts, jorts, etc.
But for purpose of this review, I went out looking for shorts specifically that are more smart casual (eg: You can wear them with a nice pair of white leather sneakers and look put together)
I went with the cheaper options because I'm a student and that's what I can afford right now.

This was a really good men's shorts review article I used to find brands to try out initially.

Shorts I Picked
Here are my final 4 in terms of price / quality / fit.
Brands:
Uniqlo / Bonobos / Dockers / Volcom
My size:
I'm 5'10 and 160 lbs, I get all of my shorts in a waist size 29.
My legs are on the skinny side, and I have very skinny calves (trust me I've tried to make them grow)
Here is a picture of me wearing all 4 shorts.
I would place these in the more casual option. They're made of softer material are very easy to move around in. If you have bigger thighs and legs in general, these will look even better on you because they are very roomy. The material is not as stiff as their chino counterparts. Overall a great casual short for summer.
My absolute favorite of the bunch. The material is very nice but doesn't feel restricting or too stiff at all. I love the style, it doesn't billow out at all which is a huge plus for me. It's also the shortest of the shorts so if you got muscular thighs and calves these would look great on you. These definitley make me want to up my squat game in the gym.
Overall a decent, modest summer short. Good solid material, but it billowed out on the bottoms a bit too much for my liking. Again, I'd recommend this pair if you have bigger thighs and legs in general and prefer a regular style of shorts.
Overall I'd say these shorts had what I percieved to be the most high quality construction. The material was really thick and solid, and a bit stiff too. It's hard to imagine not keeping these shorts for years. The fit is also suprisingly decent, not much billowing at the bottom and pretty roomy without looking too baggy. I'd say for the average guy, these shorts are perfect.
I liked all of these shorts but the Bonobos shorts were by far my favorite, I think I just prefer shorter shorts in general because they offset the look of my skinny calves.
Hope this was of some help to you guys.
