Archibald of London, the saga continues..

I only commented as I am familiar with the slur but you are the first person I have ever heard say it is perfectly acceptable to refer to someone from Pakistan as a Paki.

I see florisgreen supports your opinion that Paki is an acceptable term too. Maybe it is in Euroland.

“Bloody Pakis running amok everywhere ripping off igents” the PM said in his speech to the nation.
Yes and no, I think calling anyone Paki or Pakistani can be seen as derogatory. To quote a Labour councillor in Dewsbury, ''I don't do Paki politics.'' But case in point, the chap behind AOL is no Paki, he may be other things.

JFWR for one, plus so many others which l didn't care to remember. I think AOL 's new community manager Ida, and designer Cindy are the transgender, nonbinary reincarnations of our beloved Paki.

just type out pakistani. its not that hard. can't we just type out pakistani and let everyone relax?

Yup - 98% probability you get punched in the nose.
I've never used the term but when I lived in Blighty I used to play a lot of cricket with and against Asians. I remember at tea in one game a test being on the telly in the club house and someone commented on Richie Ben'o using the term "Paki's", much to my surprise the consenus from the players from Pakistan was you can't expect him to say Pakistanis, that be like saying Australians instead of Aussi's, or New Zealanders instead of Kiwi's. Ben'o never used the term went commenting on test matches in England but he did in Oz all the time.

Not a term I'd use all the same. Doesn't carry well outside cricketing circles at all. And I wouldn't pass a tissue to anyone using it.
