Challenging iGent Verities

Just don't do what other guy on SF did, Argen... black suit with chestnut shoes and he claimed is tasteful, he felt confident and he looked smashing. :laugh1:

I like Banana Republic. But nobody comes after me. I assume because I rarely wear it and when I do, nobody can tell.

Also, Argent....no to the black chinos. I'm not saying no to black pants. But all the cool looks with black pants....will be better if those black pants aren't chinos.

I feel a black chino would be better suited than a black trouser. Would never have need for those.

You have little need for either. Black jeans or something SW&D I can see. But when you start thinking of black pants in the MC or MC Casual context, things get unfriendly really fast.

FWIW, the chinos are done in a SW&D context. Grey/white tee, nikes or chukkas. Not MCing it at all.

More than context is needed though. Within that context, you'd be better with black pants that are intended for SW&D.

I support the no black pants rule as well, unless you have a very stark complexion.

I like these black pants. Note that they aren't chinos

However, I think a light-colored suit, e.g., tan or light gray, with a medium to dark blue shirt and, say, a pink or yellow tie can look very good in an appropriately festive context.

can someone shed some light on this. I feel, I'm lost atm.

This isn't exactly an i-gent verity, but Leather Soul sells some UGLY fucking shoes. Its also a fantastic business model when everything they sell seems to be out of stock with a several month backorder.

they are from alden. a murican brand.

Not like I read the thread or anything, but I suspect that he means it's not really correct for business wear. I'd agree with that. Sounds more lawn party than contract-signing. Feel free to PM his butt here, as he is an inactive member.
...Bond's even more well-documented nylon y-front underpants...
Where is this documentation? This is very useful in fighting the Bond fetishism.

I don't want to be found death in one of these colour combinations outside of the beach.

one for the team, huh. while, I never had a dispute with him, I wouldn't know how to approach him nor where to find him. he is too murican for my taste, too.

no shirts other than white, light blue never 1990s navy and light pink can be used under a businessdress code. All the rest are tacky attempts and bad taste and or profanation of classic dressing as Pitti weirdoswho have never had a job.

Another iGent law I broke yesterday is, "No black shoes with an odd jacket." Yesterday, I rocked a pair of A-E Bradley's in black in conjunction with some medium gray slacks, my Chan Black Watch blazer and a royal oxford BD in Brompton blue from Mercer. I like to think I looked pretty good for an old buzzard, black shoes and all!

I was unaware of that "rule". Break it all the time

Me too. At least I don't pair it with brown jackets. I pay particular attention to that. I've been dressing in sin. Luckily casual is only 2 days of the week for me.
